Tuesday May 26th will be a big day for Prop 8 supporters and activists in California. The decision on whether to uphold Proposition 8 (the banning same-sex marriage) will be decided by the California Supreme Court. Social media as well as street campaigns have been planned all around the state following the announcement of the Prop 8 decision. From marches to rally’s, Tuesday will be the biggest day for gay rights in the nation.
The November decision to ban same-sex marriage was highly controversial and upsetting for gay rights supporters. Celebrities, actors and actresses came out to support gay rights including Oscar winner Sean Penn who made his acceptance speech on the current matter. Penn who played Harvey Milk, the first ever elected gay official in California, felt close to this decision and wanted to make others aware of its falsity.

let’s hope that the voice of the majority will upheld in this state, for once! enough with the activist judges! let the people’s voice stand!~
If the courts change the decision it’ll prove democracy is pointless. Why have a vote if the majority votes one way but because a small few complain the courts have to flip a decision.
thanks trevor! that’s completely what i’m saying. whether you’re for or against gay marriage, it was voted on and the majority voted to ban it. activists were ok with it being voted on, but when it passed, they were pissed and are now taking it to the courts to rule against the majority AGAIN. so, they like democracy only if they get their way
Both interesting points of view…May i ask which way you both voted?
