It’s National Running Day!

I started running in elementary school.  No, I wasn’t exactly the fastest girl in gym class or on the sports teams that I played on, but I was consistent about doing it.  Running is that one exercise that you can do alone where you can escape life, worries, problems, or just your day… and just compete against yourself, the concrete, or maybe the treadmill.

I believe that this is the reason why marathon runners compete besides helping out charities or non-profit organizations, because its an adrenaline rush as you race against yourself.  Granted, if you run too much or run improperly, you may eventually have issues with your knees, ankles or shins, so it is imperative that you see a doctor if you are having these issues.

So, I’m actually happy that today, June 3rd, is National Running Day where “many of the major organizations within the running industry are joining forces in an unprecedented unified effort to nationally and locally promote running as a healthy, easy, and accessible form of exercise.”

So, from San Diego to New York, you can participate in events going on near you where you just have to lace up your running shoes and kick it up a notch.
