TV Stars Dazzle at Tony Awards
The Tony Awards were last night on CBS….and that means red carpet fashion! But it was the stars of the small screen that upstaged the Broadway actors.
You would think, this being the Tony’s and all, that the fashion would be over-the-top! I mean, thespians are known for being dramatic, right?! So why shouldn’t their fashion be the same? But for the most part, it was the presenters, many of them famous for their work on television, that shined!
Kudos to Lauren Graham. Known mostly for her wholesome character Lorelai Gilmore on the family-favorite sitcom, Gilmore Girls, she shocked the Tony’s red carpet in a neon green one-shouldered gown. The color was positively radioactive, but in a good way.
Chandra Wilson, another television star from the uber-popular hospital drama, Grey’s Anatomy, looked retro-glam in a flowing teal gown with jeweled waist and 1920s-inspired hair.
Then there were the untouchables, like Dolly Parton and Angela Landsbury. They looked classy and amazing, each in their own way. They can do whatever they want! They are icons.
As for the guys…well, there’s not much to say. A tux is a tux. But if a best dressed male has to be crowned, it would be a three-way tie going to the young stars of Billy Elliot, The Musical. You couldn’t touch those kids that night! Not only were they sharply dressed, but they ended up taking home the award for best performance(s) in a musical.
As for the women who wore black- Anna Hathaway, Susan Sarandon, Stockard Channing, Martha Plimpton, Jane Fonda….(the list could go on)- you’re on notice. You are all foxy ladies, step it up! Shock us!
