Rapid Lash is the latest craze in the women’s beauty product industry. Promising to make your eyelashes grow longer and faster, Rapid Lash might not be the product for you.
It contains a drug called prostaglandin, which is used to treat patients with Glaucoma. Prostaglandin, when applied to the eyelash, can have side effects ranging from irritation to the changing of eye color. Although no major cases of negative reactions to this drug have appeared, one should be weary when contemplating purchase.
The cost of beauty can be high at times, but I’d rather not have my eye color change for rapidly growing eyelashes. Sometimes I think they should just do more trial runs and make sure there products work on everybody. These unknown chemicals can be quite dangerous, especially if you haven’t tested for a short period of time.

While I am sure your comments are well intended – the side effects you mention regarding rapidlash are really attributed to another product = there is not evidence , for example, that RapidLash can casue eye color change. All RapidLash ingredients have meet all safety standards required in the US and EU.
As for the efficacy of RapidLash…I’ve never used it, but my 82 year old mother-in-law has glaucoma and uses eyedrops containing prostaglandin. She experiences minimal burning, her eyes are dark brown, so I can’t attest to color change…but her EYELASHES are amazing! She never really had much in the way of eyelashes…short, straight and stubby…about 1/4 inch long. Now people ask her if she’s wearing false eyelashes! From what I’ve inferred, this product (RapidLash) is “painted on” above the lash line. Glaucoma medication is dropped directly into the eye.
Check your facts. This product does NOT not contain the glaucoma medication prostaglandin. If it did it would require a prescription and cost much more than $50.00. Go to any of the sites selling it and check the ingredient label.
Don’t know if this is true, but was recently in Alternative Health Journal magazine:
Rapid Lash Warning
By Dan Sevigny, Community Contributor — Published: June 12, 2009
Rapid Lash Eyelash Renewal Serum is the latest in the procession of eyelash renewal products to include harmful chemicals to help produce the desired effects.
Prostaglandins like Cloprostenate are used in drugs that treat glaucoma. The effect on the eyelashes was first noticed when glaucoma patients started developing full, bushy and elongated lashes – an effect eventually tied to Cloprostenate.
After a few products came out with the substance, many people using the products started to experience side effects such as:
* Eye irritation
* Loss of vision
* Eye-Color change (as drastic as blue to brown)
The ingredient contained in Rapid Lash is a slightly altered version of the harmful chemical that caused a stir not long ago – the new compound is Isopropyl Cloprostenate. Is the chemical difference enough to deter the harmful side effects that are associated with the other form of the compound?
Rapid Lash is still conducting an independent trial to find out how harmful their product can be – it may be smart to wait to buy until the results of those trials are released
This is a safe product. My sister got hers from her dermatologist. I’ve had no problems. I’ve been using RapidLash for about 3 months and have beautiful, thick, long lashes for the first time in my 60 years.
Sounds like a great deal, but bit shady. They go to great lengths to state this product has no prostagladin analogue. It does however appear to have a derivative of one…maybe this is the active ingredient. Smoke and mirrors, I guess they will need them since this is now a drug store product with high school girls stocking it on the shelf. On one end you have Drs writting Latisse, in the middle the other eyelash products, atleast being monitored by professionals and at the other end, you have this being retailed unsupervised. The FDA is going to see blinking lights over this, and my guess Allergan the makers of Latisse are going to be putting pressure on the FDA to go after some of these folks.
h
I have been using rapid lash for about a month and a half my lashes are clearly growing. The problem is I have developed this throbbing eye pain. I have stopped using the product and will be seeing a doctor.
I have been using Rapid Lash for 6 weeks. I thought the thick, long growth was my imagine….until I had 6 DIFFERENT people comment on my long lashes!! It works, and I have had no eye color change or irritation.
I’m thinking of using Rapid Lash but does it work for eyebrows really well and fast?
DUDE, USE MASCARA!!!! I WOULD NEVER RISK HAVING ANY LOSS OF EYESIGHT TO MY EYES!!!! ARE YOU FRIGGIN CRAZY????
How fast does Rapid lash work? and can u put it on your eyebrows too and will it work??
Will this help gapped eyebrows?
I have been using Rapid Lash for a few months and found that while I did experience the longer lashes for a while, I am now finding that my eyelashes are falling out, breaking off and look worse than they did prior to using the product. I also have a reddened area from the Rapid Lash serum along both my top and bottom eyelash line that looks terrible. I have since recently stopped using Rapid Lash but am concerned about the long term affects. Am I going to lose all of my eyelashes and will the redness go away?! Has anyone else experienced this?
Sounds like you’re allergic to the product. It’s right to stop using ANY product if you have any adverse reactions, such as you are experiencing. More than likely, your eyes/lashes will return to normal after about 4-6 weeks, once normal cell regeneration happens.
Will rapid lash darken eyebrows and fill in patchy parts?
Does Rapid lash darken eyebrows and fill in?
I’ve just got mine like two days ago. I put it on last night. Today my eyes were a bit itchy, redness in my eyes (the white part), redness around the eye where it was applied on, eyes started feeling really dried as if tired, and then after half the day passed, my eye vision is now blurry. I see that my vision is getting worse. I applied very carefully not to get any liquid in my eye. So, I don’t understand this is happening to me. I will keep trying it on my eyebrows since I only have half of an eyebrow. If it works, I’ll comment again later.
Thanks SO much! I really want to know if it thickens and fills in gaps before I go out and buy it!
What are all of the stores that you can purchase Rapid Lash at?
michelle i used rapid lash for a few months. I also had longer eyelashes for a while. I stopped using rapid lash because i noticed my eyelashes getting weak and falling out. It has been a few weeks since I stopped using rapid lash but my eyelashes continue to fall out.
Do you think that will happen to eyebrows too?
I have been using Rapid Lash for about one week. My eyes are very itchy and they burn a little. I hope this improves. I will keep you posted.
Itchiness is a common side effect and a doctor will tell you that, if you’re getting a prescribed eyelash product, like Latisse. It’s the product worling on the stimulation of your hair follicles. As for the burning, you really have to watch how much you use on your lashline: the product will creep up your lashes and get into your eyes when you blink, if you use too much. I know all this b/c my daughter works in a spa that has a doctor who comes in weekly to do more medical procedures. He gave her a TON of info regarding these types of products and she is a Latisse HOUND.
I was about to dump my current eyelash conditioner to use Rapidlash. It looks like a great deal at $50.00 vs the 150.00 I am currently spending. I called them and they told me it lasts 1-2 month, while what I have used lasts 6 months. I am not changing now, I know my brand works, and the only advantage the Rapidlash offered is gone…price? I also want to know how safe it is being new to the market. I love my Lashes, but also love my eyesight!
Hi Gail. What is the name of the $150 conditioner you are currently using and where did you buy it? Many thanks, Donna
After a few days of using RL my eyes are ichy and my vision is blurry. I am starting to think maybe I should just use it for my eyebrows. could these negative effects be temporary and eyes get use to them?
I have been using RapidLash for close on a year now. My lashes are stunning, my brows have filled in. I am hooked for life!
I have been using RapidLash for several weeks and have had no issues. I got mine at beauty.com.
DOES IT WORK ON BROWS, Those of a 62 year old woman????
I saw good results with my eyelashes and eyebrows after about 6 weeks. Lashes were longer, but not much thicker. My eyebrows were darker. No side effects, but now my eyelashes are falling out more easily and there is a small empty patch on one eyebrow. It may be my own fault. After I started seeing good results, I didn’t use the serum as often. I’ve started using it every night again, but I hope I’m not making it worse.
this is very bad for ur skin and eyes. its couses blindness stop using it take my advice please .
To Michele. Beth and Michaela yes I exerienced the same thing….My lashed appeared to e growing the first few weeks and looked good….but now they seem thinner and I also notice lashes falling out as well…I am going to discontinue use..
I have been using Rapidlash for 4 weeks. It made the skin around my eyes sore for a few days but now that’s fine. I haven’t noticed them getting longer or thicker. They are in fact getting weaker, growing downwards, and are looking thinner than normal! I have just ordered MD lash as that has good reviews and seems safe too. I used Lilash for 8 months and after 3 i did notice HUGE eyelashes that i had to cut as they got TOO long. They were thick and curled up lovely…BUT after this time, it started to make th skin around my eyes so sore that i had to stop. I did try to lessen the use and start again but it kept on happening. I wish i could just get ONE that worked for long periods without any side effects!
It is very hard to take your comments seriously when your language usage is so poor. You wrote “one should be weary ” . To be weary is to be tired, you must mean wary which is to be cautious. If you can’t write a literate sentence can you understand basic science?
KA,OMG THAT IS SO FREAKING FUNNY. I SWEAR I LAUGHED MYSELF 2 TEARS. THAT’S SO FUNNY AND TRUE.
i see someone else has the same issue i am now having….when i first used rapidlash i had some burning…it went away after a few applications and i noticed longer, thicker lashes in a few weeks. they actually started getting too long and a became a bit out of control. i stopped using rapid lash figuring i would give my lashes a break. now they are breaking away and falling out… anyone else with this issue? i hope they will grow back. my advice don’t use…i have a feeling unless you continue to use forever this will happen
I have had the exact thing happen. I used rapid lash for about a month, then noticed my eyelashes growing back thicker and longer, then stopped using, now my lashes break easily, are now patchy, my eyes are are reddened and itchy (easily irritated, I am now using eye drops daily)
Uncertain if to try again??
I tried it for only 3 days and had to stop. Now my eyelids are burning ,stinging for weeks.Never had that before..Not worth long eyelashes if your eyes hurt!!
I have been using rapidlash for 6 months. I was so impressed with how they grew. Suddenly I am noticing that clups of my lashes are breaking off. I am stopping the rapidlash, but am worried that I may lose all my lashes. Has anyone heard of this?
KA….HAVE YOU NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN SCAN BLOG SITES AND INSULT OTHER PPL? GET A LIFE HONEY!
I agree CJJ.
KA is that really worth your time, these are real people just posting their experiences and sharing with others. (no one should be checking others spelling and grammer in the internet!)
Personally I appreciate outsiders opinions ansd experiences when looking into products.
Thanks to others for posting their experiences.
KA….HAVE YOU NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN SCAN BLOG SITES AND INSULT OTHER PPL? GET A LIFE HONEY! CAN YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?
Hi guys;
I have been using Latisse for two months now. I have been thinking about changing over to the ‘Rapid Lash’, however, after reading your comments I think I have decided not to. The Latisse also made my eyelashes very long and very straggly. I have not seen any thickness at all. I am at the point where I should buy another bottle, but it is quite expensive and if it is only going to make them long and not thick, I am not interested in using it anymore. Now I am nervous that all my eyelashes are going to fall out and I will not have any eyelashes, what then!!!!
Thanks for all your help.
you know, back in the day, people (including doctors) used to claim that x-rays were “safe.” people were getting them just for fun. even shoe stores had them as a novelty to their customers. then many years later, people began getting cancer from it.
my opinion: don’t put something that has not been THOROUGHLY tested near your eyes! if studies show even a slight risk of vision loss, why would you take that risk for cosmetic sake? crazy!
I used rapid lash for 2 months,my eyelashes were longer but when I stopped my eyelashes start falling out.I noticed also some irittation and dryness on my eyelids.I will try something more natural.
Way too many people get a bit ‘crazed’ when they read scientific reports about chemicals. Such people should first read the dosage part. Surely a high dose of anything is harmful, including pain killers, carrots, water, multi-vatiamins etc. The dose of any of the chemicals contained within Rapid Lash would not be of significant concentration to exert any sufficiently detrimental effects when applied as a small coat to the lash line once daily. As such the product DID get approval for release.
I have extremely reactive skin and am sensitive to chemicals etc. I’ve been using Rapid lash for over 3 months. Any lash line irritation was no different to apply moisturiser near to the eye after cleansing and indeed my lashes have grown to a significantly longer length. What’s even better is that my lashes are growing back after 2 devastating eyelash extension applications.
Before making outlandish claims please put the facts into perspective people.
Thanks and enjoy the rewarding effects of Rapid Lash 0(^_^)0
If this many people experience the same symptoms, it must not be good. Lashes getting weak and falling out?? Blurry vision?? I doubt that has anything to do with “reactive skin and chemical sensitivity”. Sounds like some people are reacting differently to it though. Or maybe it takes longer to react on them. I would love to have longer lashes, but I am a bit scared to try it with the risk of ending up with fewer lashes or bald patches! Maybe the people with these side effects are doing something different…who knows…
i always had quite good lashes but decided to try rapidlash, to begin with it really stung, but after a few days it was fine and within 3 weeks they had really grown and everybody noticed how great they looked.I got threw my first bottle and then started to notice that my eyelids had gone really red and my lashes were falling out, really gutted as thought it was a new wonder product!! have stopped use and hope my eyes go back to normal!!
I bought Rapid Lash and have been using it for about one week now. I initially bought it to apply to my eyebrows, since losing the last 2/3 of them due to hypothyroidism. Since I had heard such glowing comments about the remarkable effects Rapid Lash had on making eyelashes fuller, I decided to apply the product to them as well. When I got it home, I thought it very odd, however, that there was no product information inside the box and that the box had no tamper-proof packaging, such as shrinkwrap around the wand cylinder and/or the box itself. Isn’t that kind of packaging required on any OTC cosmetic product???
Within a day, I started having eye irritation (burning sensation) and noticed significant eye redness. A few friends even commented that my eyes were blood-shot and that I looked “tired”. I continued to use RL for several more days, thinking I just needed to get over the initial adjustment of using a new product. After about 4 days of use, I realized that my eyes had gone from a grey/blue color to a vivid aquamarine! I immediately STOPPED using RL and began to do my own research online. I have now read some of the other postings that cite identical side effects and am, frankly–scared. My eyes have always been my greatest facial asset, so I am NOT willing to risk my irises changing to brown! I am planning to discontinue RL immediately and will consult my opthamologist ASAP. Beware of this product!
I have not been using RapidLash very long but I have noticed that I now have dark circles under my eyes. Never had this before. I am wondering if it is because I also used on bottom lashes…does anyone else also use on bottom lashes and have the under the eyes darkness? Kathleen, my product had shrink wrap and also stickies on the box top.
I used rapid lash and while my eyelashes did get longer I got red irritated eyelids…so I stopped using and of course the redness went away.
Try Talika eyelash conditioning gel, it’s good and much gentler.
yikes,I have been using RapidLash for 5 weeks, then boom red itchy skin all over the face – I stopped and it all went away, this product is not for everyone.
I have been using Rapidlash since last two months and my lashes grew longer but not thicker.and I did notice that the skin around my eyes has turned dark as well as I have dark cicles now.
i have been using rapid lash for 2 weeks and notice no difference in my lashes! i have the side effects my eyes are sore since i started using it and and have redness and have a little blur vision i am also noticing that my eyelashes are falling out! i have decided to stop using this product. i hope i don’t lose all my lashes! =(
I googled Rapid Lash because I was tempted to buy it – it’s on sale for $25 at http://www.beyondtherack.com (down from $50). I’d read about it in a wedding magazine last night, promoting its use to help boost your lash growth. After reading the blurb above and the ensuing comments, I’ll stick with my eyelash curler and Diorshow. (Thanks everyone, for your personal accounts.)
(cont.)
Sorry – it’s on sale @ http://www.hautelook.com
But I would still never put that crap on my eyes.
I’ve been using RapidLash for a little over 6 weeks. It’s working great for me…longer and fuller lashes. I’m also using it on my eyebrows…results there are a little less impressive yet there is improvement. I’ve had no irritation thus far, thank goodness.
I’ve been using Rapid Lash and have no color change or any other problems. My lashes did grow up and I get a lot comments and questions if my eyelashes are natural or fake. This product works!
To answer a query: yes, it works on 62 year old eyebrows. I wasn’t sure I would be able to detect the difference, so I decided to use it only on my left eyebrow for a while. After a month there was a distinct difference. So, I’ve started using it on the right side, and it’s pretty much caught up.
Now, I did not use it on eyelashes, but an aethetician told me that my left eye lashes were thicker than the right. So, maybe close is close enough.
For those who scoffed and said they would use mascara, let me tell you one of the countless sign of aging — some hair thins — eyebrows, eyelashes among them. Plus, starting in my mid-40s my eyelashes wouldn’t curl and I tried several different curlers.
And, yes, btw, it did look funny have one full eyebrow and one skimpy one. Fortunately, Merle Norman makes a great eyebrow powder.
I’ve been using this product for app. 3mons.I also had redness and a dry feeling of the skin, for the first week or so,but kept it up,thinking my skin would adjust to the product and it did.It took 6 weeks, and my lashes became long and thick. We lose hair every day, eyelashs too, this product lenghen’s the life of the eyelashs, but like all hair it has to fall out sometime, and it seem like quite afew at once when using rapidlash,,but if you keep useing it,they come back fast, with in a few weeks. The only thing that kinda bugs me,is my eyelashes on the outer corners of my eye curl so much that its hard to put mascara on,other than that,I’m sold.
Sahar, the same thing has been happening to me. I’ve only used the product for roughly two weeks, and whether or not my eyelashes have actually grown, I can not really tell… because the only thing I notice is the fact that I lose close to 3-4 eyelashes each day from EACH EYE. I’ve used Latisse in the past and it definitely works, just too pricey for what Im looking for.
I have really short eyelashes and was looking for something that will work. However after reading comments made above i dont think i am ready to risk having these side effects for better eyelashes. I would rather try something different and more natural perhaps.
I have been using this product for months now as my eyelashes were getting VERY thin and falling out quickly. NO eye color change. Lashes now reach my eyebrows and are so dark people think I have eyeliner and mascara on when I don’t. MUCH cheaper than any other product I have investigated. GREAT PRODUCT!
I started Rapid Lash about 6 weeks ago and found it worked closely the way the Ravitalash did before they changed the formula. Prior to RL I tried Enormous Lash and got absolutely NO results for over 7 months, sent it back for my money-back guarantee and guess what, no money came back! I also tried Lashfood, an all natural alternative but got NO results with this product as well. I initially purchased RL for my eyebrows which have been thin all my life, for the first time, I now have thicker filled in brows and use less brow pencil. As for my lashes, they are a bit thicker but are definitely longer, some don’t really curl and look odd. After reading everyone’s comments it seems to me that everyone has their own chemical reaction to products. I have had no chemical irritation with RL so I will continue to use it. My suggestion to those that have any irritation, don’t use it, your body is telling you to stop. Best of luck to others in their lash/brow quests with RL.
I have dry eyes, use prescription Restasis and tears eye drops 4 Xaday. I am borderline Glucoma(Ido not take drops). From the reviews I guess it would be too risky. Has anyone who has dry eyes asked their doctor about RL? Thanks Jeanne
I have been using rapid lash on my eyebrows, because for some reason my eyebrows disappeared. My eyebrows are back. However, I developed a headache when I first used rapid lash and my eyes were very red. I no longer use it.
I have been using RL for 5 days and have every side effect I have read from prior 61 posts. I am throwing this product in garbage today.
I have been using RL for 2 months and I absolutely LOVE it!!! I am a strawberry blonde with lashes that were short and so light that I had seriously considered the eyelash extensions. I tried a couple other procucts, Lipocils and PeterRoth Thomas’ version, but nothing worked like RL. I have not had any side effects, but I certainly have friends commenting on how great my lashes look or if they are false. Everyone is different, as with anything, try it and if it doesn’t work for you, move on and try something else!!!
I am 65 & my brows have been very light, almost invisible, all of my life. I have always had to use makeup on them. I’ve been using Rapid Lash for the last 2 months and am thrilled with the results. For the first time ever, I have brows ! I’m crossing my fingers I don’t start shedding them like some of the others report above. I only put it on a couple of times a week now.
I have been using this product for at least 4 months, have had no negative side effects only outstanding results. i now only apply 3 times a week and will probably cut down to twice a week.
I have been using Rapid Lash for 6 months?? now, and have bought another so that I don’t run out. I have never had long or thick lashes, and as I have entered my 50s, my brows started disappearing. Now, both look wonderful–better than I when I was 16! I have been VERY careful not to get anything in my eyes, and have had NO problems.
Hello Everyone !
Im so interested in RL but Im soooo scared. I intend to use RL on my ( lack of ) eyebrows. After reading all reviews, I cant afford the risk of losing what little brows I have. Any comments? Thank You.
The first night i used it i felt no tingling or anything. But when i woke up the next morning my undereyes were kinda brownish.
^^^ OH & Am i NOT suppose to put it on my lower lashes?! Im only 17years old. and im scared about the side effects. My undereyes just turned brownish. No tingling when applied and no burning and no irritation or nothing.
EWW, im tooo young to have dark circles around my eyes, i really hope this goes away because i only used it for ONE night and it happend. Im not gonna put it on my lower lashes NO MORE!
For 2 days my right Eyelid ie swollen and red now it is turning a brown colour around it looks like some one has hit me.Could it be a side effect? if it has nothing to do with RL. I am very happy with it.
I applied Rapid Lash to my lash line and eyebrows last night. Within an hour, my eyes felt numb and then burning. 24 hours later, and my eyes still burn, are red rimmed, and I have had a headache all day.
DO NOT USE THIS
I started using rapidlash and my eye lashes grow a bit, nothing noticeable to others but I could see they grew. THAN I started losing mine and now I am scared they will never grow back. The CRAPPIEST product ever! I have never had circles under my eyes and thanks to RapidLash I now have them! I just traded two or three problems for one. I would love to go back to my normal short but full eyelashes! HATE HATE HATE this product.
well ,I have been using this product, and my lashes are longer and darker.however, right on the rim of the upper lid,I have developed a reddish, brown line above the lid.i even see some tiny red veins going upward.I want to stopped, but I seem hooked.Maybe i will do it every other day to maintain the lashes.I hope there is nothing danderous in this. Maybe I will ask my eye doctor. the comment above mine described what I have….red rimes around the lids.
Rapidlash eyelash renwsl serium sale!
Eyelash renewal serum
Started using Rapid lash in dec. After about 2 weeks my eyes started getting red and irritated, as if I had sand in it, but my lashes started to grow, so I continued. Then my eyelids thickened and became bright orange. Stopped using the product and thought it would go away. 1 month later it became even worse and I got a peasize stye in the middle of my left lid. Went to an opthamologist who diagnosed me with pleberitis. 2 month later, my lids are still swollen, have very few lashes left and might need surgery to remove stye! my eyesight is also not the same.
One of my clients returned the Rapid-Lash I sold her at my Spa. She said that is caused her extreme soreness around the eyelid. She also accused me of price gouging her, since she could pick it up at Costco much cheaper than my Spa. I am going back to a higher end Spa eyelash conditioner. Tired of competing with drug stores, and discount chains with a line that needs to be professionally administered,
I have been using RL for a little over 3 months. If I am too generous with the serum some will leak into the eye and the redness and soreness will present itself the next day and only lasts for the one day. I have only had this happen on 3 separate occasions. Having said that I must also tell you that I have lashes that are “beautiful”!!!! Much longer from the inside corner right across to the outside corner of my eye. They are also thicker and darker(bonus) to the point that I actually thought I still had mascara on when removing my makeup. This is great because sometimes i will even bypass wearing any mascara at all. As for eyebrows, I have a scar on my brow bone where eyebrow hairs have not grown for over 6 years. It took longer to see results but I now have enough hair growing there that I do not have to use an eyebrow pencil(unless I want a thick dramatic look). The only downside I can attest to is the soreness and slight redness that seems to happen if I am a little too zealous in how I apply the serum. Having read all these comments I have to agree with the person who said different people react differently to different products.
BEWARE, ur eyelashes make look nice after a month of using, BUT THEN THEY FALL OUT, i’m talking five/six eyelashes at a time, they get WEAK. do not buy.
I just got Rapid lash because i have herd so many good things about it! In fact its on for the first time right now, my eyes just feel a little dry, but I am wearing contactsits still worth it! I have been getting eyelash extensions for so long i dont have anymore of my own eyelashes left! AAAA! WISH ME LUCK!! i hope this works! (and just a tip to anyone who just wants more healthy eyelashes without spending the money… I was told to use vasalene on my eylashes and on the roots, and it really works! Just glob it on haha… It really helps your eyelashes be softer, and look better with mascara on, and I have noticed a few new eyelashes growing!! it just takes a little longer which is why im turning to something new!)
It works great my eyebrow have always been naturally thin, they are very dark and thick now. My eyelashes became long and a little thicker from using it then some began to come out. But as the other person said Rapidlash lengthens the growth phase of hair but eventually they must fall out. I think this is why its so dramatic when it does happen. Also the Prostaglandin analogue increases blood vessel growth to the hairs so may see increases redness or even little red lines (blood vessels). There was slight tingling when I first used it but not anymore.
been using it for a approx 2 months now. No negative affect like I have read above from posters. I am not overzealous in the application, being careful not to get any in the eyes. No redness, lines, itching, etc. A definite increase in lash density, i dont notice any fallout or breakage. I cannot imagine not using it as I know my lashes and brows will get only sparser with age…if using nothing at all. And I must say, I got really tired of using mascara for just as many reasons as gals say they wont use rapidlash. Mascarra often causes irritated eyes, it TOO IS A CHEMICAL, IS IT NOT? mASCARRA, makes my eyes watery, sometimes itchy, and i hate the caked feeling I had to get the THICK lashes I wanted….because I had to apply so much of it. I’ll stick with the rapid lash. Lets face it. Nails grow, break off and regrow. Its one thing to have your eyelashes fall out over time due to age…and NOT grow back at all. Im happy.
Has anyone gotton a severe headache from RL? I hae everytime I’ve used it. I stopped for a few days and my headache went away. Used RL two hours ago and my headache is back…? Please let me know. Thanks!
All of these comments remind me to check with my ophthalmologist first. Did any of the posters do that? I am guilty of trying it already and have woken up with much more mucus in my eyes. I am going to call tomorrow and will report back.
I’ve been using rapidlash for 3-1/2 weeks. I put it on my eye brows, top and bottom eye lashes. The first few days my eyes were looking really blood shot, that has decreased. The skin around my eyes has gotten darker. My eye lashes have definitely grown. I paid $25.00 for rapid lash, I bought it from fhorhair who I found on Amazon.com. My eye colors are the same color as they were when I started using it. I am not experiencing any pain from the use of this product. My eyelashes are definitely looking longer and darker. The product says it can take 3 – 4 weeks to notice the change.
I have noticed some gunk in my eyes on some mornings, but its no worse than any other time. I have not experienced headaches from using RL.
I’ve been using Rapid Lash for 1 week and I threw it in the garbage. My lashes are still falling out, I have blurry vision in the morning and my eyes are often dry and itchy. There is not enough study into this product and I suggest everybody rethink using it
I know every one is differnt, but my eyes are so red and they burn ive been using rapid lash for 3days now. It might work but I have to make a choice red burning eyes or long eyelashes. I dont think so its not for me.
I made comments earlier but i’ve been using RL for about a month now & my lashes DID grow longer, but not really as thick as i wanted it to be. No side effects what so ever. But only this one time when i put it on my bottom lashes which turned my eye bags kinda brownish. But since im expecting my lashes to fall out after i stop, ive been using Loreals Lash Boosting serum and mascara to maintain it and switch off everyother day at night. IT MAINTAINS IT VERY WELL IF YOU DONT WANT YOUR LASHES TO FALL OUT!
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I too, have used rapid lash for a month on my brows and thought I had a serious problem when my eyebrows started to break off and fall out! After reading this I feel much better and know I am not the only one who has experienced this, here I already didnt have good eyebrows to begin with and now I have less than before! I hope they grow back! This product SUCKS! DO NOT BUY!
I have been using rapid lash for over 4 months, it was great at first, I got the desirable lashes they promised me up until about the 4th month. I re purchased the product and continued use. The product has now turned on me causeing a significant decrease in lashes. My lashes have been falling out like crazy…..I called Rapid Lash to let them know of this possible side effect…they didnt seem to care and were quick to brush me off. It’s not worth the price you pay for 3 months of beautiful lashes!!!
If you truly want lash growth with NO side effects, produced by a new peptide system with clinically proven results, then check out the product that I developed and launched in July 2009. The E.Y.E.S. system: Moisturizing Eyelash Growth System does work, and works well with no side effects. AND…it is only $25.00 for a 4 ml vial that lasts at least 1 month. Growth has been seen in as little as 2 weeks, and usually between 3 to 4 weeks in all users. It is now the most chatted about eyelash growth product on the cosmetic chat room EDS Essential Day Spa. Go online and check out the threads under the title “Never Over The Hill Moisturizing Eyelash Growth Serum”. You can find and buy this product at the online store: http://www.shop.neveroverthehill.com Don’t buy the drug active products because of the side effects. Don’t buy the other products because of their outrageous prices. If you want a good product at a consumer friendly price, you need to check out my Moisturizing Eyelash Growth Serum (E.Y.E.S. system).
I bought my first tube of Rapid Lash off of ebay. I started seeing a difference in about a week. I continued to use it for 2 months (I was in heaven everytime I looked in the mirror) and my lashes were so long that I had to be careful not to put so much mascara otherwise I’d have that FAKE eyelash look. When I ran out of the product, I decided to try loreal’s version – lash serum – and that didn’t do anything for my lashes. After a couple of weeks I noticed that my lashes weren’t as long as before. So I bought another tube of RapidLash off of ebay. This time it did nothing for the first week or so — then, I noticed that my lashes were falling out! Now all I have are these super short stubs of lashes … I’m in mourning from losing those beautiful long lashes. –I’d like to know if anyone else has experienced this and if so, did your lashes grow back???
I have been using my RapidLash for two years now and have not experienced any of the negative effects mentioned. I do notice that my lashes go through a bit of an “off” period every 4 months or so, which coincides with the natural life cycle of the eyelash. They are definitely shorter. Eyelashes fall out every 4 months or so NO MATTER WHAT. I just up the use of my RapidLash from every 2nd day to every day and within 2 or 3 weeks – voila – my beautiful lashes are back. I have had great results on my brows, my one was always shorter than the other and now they are the same. I have many friends who have used the product for a long time – a girl can’t keep her beauty secrets to herself. They are all thrilled with the product. Thank you RapidLash for an awesome product!
LISTEN TO ME!!!!! I BOUGHT RAPID LASH BECAUSE I MY FRIEND GREW LONG AND BEAUTIFUL LASHES!!! INCREDIBLE!! BUT AFTER 3 MONTHS OF USING IT AND FEELING GREAT ABOUT MY LASHES SUDDENLY THEY ALL FELL OUT!!!! I”VE ALWAYS HAD GREAT LASHES BUT WANTED MORE…..THEY ARE SHORT AND FEW NOW….I WISH I COULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! IT”S A FRAUD!!! IT PULLS YOUR LASHES OUT!!! BELIEVE ME!!!! I HAVE PICTURES TO PROOVE IT!!! DO NOT USE IT!!!
I agree with Lulu: all body hair have their unique life cycle. First and fore most, Yes RL works. It lengthens lashes immensely; I would describe the effects as ‘spidery-like’, I even had to trim mine to make them look ‘more natural’. For all previous users that have stated loosing lashes, it’s natural. The normal life cycle of lashes are 3-4 months. And since your current lashes are elongated by the usage of RL, it would inevitably seem like loosing a lot once they start their telogen phase, or in easier understanding ‘resting phase’. Thus compared to the remaining lashes, the area of shed lashes seem extra bald. Be patient, give it some time. New lashes tend to take up to one month to rejuvenate. If you are young, this time would be shortened.
And like any product, we all react differently. I for one, am satisfied with the results. I am Asian (if that means anything) and have decent length lashes, but they’re always flat and seem to grow downward. RL helped me with that, now my Shu Uemura lash curler has peacefully retired. Again, for every 2-3 months of using this product, you’ll experience a ‘whimpy’ phase, but knowing that your lashes are just resting and regrowing, it’s nothing to worry about!
Purchased Rapid Lash three weeks ago at Costco. After two weeks I had major itching, redness and tiny blisters all around my eyes. I can only speak for myself but this is a product that should be pulled off the market.
Wow I just order this product but the thought of vision problems, eye pain, and lashes falling out has me wondering. The ONE item that you can use that is safe: lash primer (cheapest from L’Oreal dual mascara (this one really thickens) or more expensive but good from Prescriptives or Fasio). Follow the primer (or base) with any of your favorite mascaras. For length try Lancome Definicils (most popular on internet). Mascara with a primer/base means it will NOT run. Cosmetics have been around a LONG time and tested like forever. So it’s a safe bet and a sure thing.
On for brows: if you have some hairs and want darker and thicker try Lancome’s brow groom. Looks natural and very pretty. The Brunet is for dark haired women.
I have been doing lash extensions for a few months and it makes a huge difference – I leave the salon looking 10 years younger than when I went it. But I find the extensions can get uncomfortable, and by mid-second week, they start to go in all directions as your natural lashes grow out. So I wanted to try Rapidlash and I’ve been using it for about 5 nights. Thus far, I have no side effects (as described above) but I’m freaking out from these reports. I think I’ll just finish the month on my eyebrows and see if they improve…and keep doing the extensions until I can afford Latisse (the extensions are about $40 every 3 weeks, as opposed to $140/month for Latisse). Sucks to grow older!
RL has worked Very well with mild itch and redness.
What I do is immediatly after application I flush my own eyes with moisture drops making sure I don’t get this drug in my eyes. Keep in mind every 13 weeks you eyelashes fall out don’t panic just give RL a rest for a few weeks then start up again. With anything Botox, fillers, including RL you take risks. What we do for beauty. Think MODERATION!!! Good Luck…
I wish I’ve known about this side effect before I started using it. I too had great looking lashes after 3wks of use but now they are falling out! That’s why I ended up here because I was trying to figure out if there were anybody else with this problem. I should’ve never used this product.
Pissed! Specifically used this product b/c I didn’t want glaucoma meds in my eye and after three days of use my eyes are dry, red, and feel bad. Saw the doc and they gave me drops but I’m not sure if I should use them or what to do to get the red dry feeling away. Any tips? Will it go away on it’s own? Help! Told me not to wear contacts either for weeks… Any advice on getting rid of the redness would help. I really hopes this goes away, My eyes weren’t even red the first few days of use.
WHY DON’T YOU ALL JUST GET EYELASK EXTENSIONS?????
RISKING YOUR EYESIGHT SEEMS A LITTLE TOO MUCH JUST TO GET FULLER AND LONGER EYELASHES.
EXTENSION STAY UP TO 6 WEEKS AND YOU DON’T HAVE TO PUT MASCARA ON, YOU CAN EVEN SWIM ETC.
Wow. What a hard lesson to learn! I had really nice lashes before I started using RL about 1yr ago and they only got BETTER. I mean….AMAZING. What I’m experiencing now is so extreme, I even remember the last day my lashes were amazing: May 7, 2010. My lashes look HORRIBLE. They’ve NEVER been short and now they’re short & shitty! Lashes are falling out! I wish I discovered this forum before today! I will set fire to the RL and curse every night I put it on my lids…..then I will pray to the lash gods to GIVE ME BACK MY LASHES!
Been using RL for about a month. Now have dark circles under my eyes. I have been using RL on my bottom lashes. Anyone else have this happen and will the dark circles go away when discontinuing use of RL.
Hi Debra, I also got severe headache from RL. It got so bad I ended up in emergency room. There is not enough resarch done on this product. So warning to everyone out there. If you get headache do not use RL .

Pam- I too get the dark grey circles around the eyes!- pretty much an immediate side effect for me as i am only 3 days in. Really want to persevere though. Is it true lashes can start to fall out when you discontinue use of this stuff though? x Rosie
This is far too risky. Its decided- i’m going to bin the RL and just invest in a very good quality mascara and eyelash curlers. SURE i want the gorgeous thick long lashes as much as anyone- but not with all these side effects and then only to have said hairs fall out no way!!
I’m 63. Only been using RL for two days, but now have dark, reddish brown on upper and lower lids, just over and under where I applied RL. Also burning and blurry. Not going to continue, even though I bought 2 tubes. Maybe I’ll just keep up with my eyebrows and see what happens. Too bad I wasted the money. Wish I had looked at this site first.
AVOID AT ALL COST! I bought this and within one hour my eyelid was burning and in the morning, my eyes were pink BUT the most awful side effect was that my vision was affected by this product – blurred though this wore off within a short amount of time. THIS IS NOT A SAFE PRODUCT! Eyes are precious and mine are too important to take ANY chances with. I have sent it back to Boots UK ( where I bought it online) and have told them to let consumers know that this seeming wonder product is not without side effects.
just use it on your eyebrows. I used it on my brows and i have never had brows this thick or dark before.
I really considered to buy this! Who doesn’t want longer lashes!! But after doing some research and reviewing customer feedback here, I will clear out of it. It’s just not worth the risks. Having a scar or redness is one thing but ur eyes are so sensitive! I can’t imagine losing my eyesight and having such short and sparse lashes now, can’t imagine losing them in a few months!
I think I will just embrace what I was born with
I’ve been using for three weeks. I’ve had some itching but nothing too severe. I’m scared about my eyelashes falling out the fourth month, but I can use falsies until it grows back. It’s worth the risk to me. My lashes were very short from using single eye lash extensions. Now they are getting long! Can’t wait til it gets even better.
I don’t know much about Rapidlash, so I was reading the reviews, and I got annoyed when I read the comments from KA who was being mean and critical to the one reviewer who didn’t use perfect grammar in her review. Hey, KA….get a life, and stop making mean-spirited comments to people who are just trying to be helpful. Putting people down to make yourself feel superior really makes you look bad, so keep your nasty comments to yourself.
I have used Rapidlash since Oct 09. Recently I had surgery and had to discontinue the once a week maintenance application. My lashes began to fall out, and now I have stubs and eye pain and vision problems. Am seeing my Dr. next week. Do not use this unapproved product.
my daughter used false eye lashes for years. She started useing RL about 4 to 5 mts. ago and didn’t say anything. Her husband made a nasty comment about how much she was spending on false lashes since she was wearing them her thought every day. He was some surprised to find out they were real. It took a while to convince him. They are dark and beautiful. No side effects
This product gives me bad headaches & bloodshot eyes, even though i only put in on the top lashes. I have been using for 4 weeks & my lases are slightly longer but not thicker. I think i will stop using now, as the headaches are just too much. Shame really, its expensive stuff @ £40 a tube. Dont bother wasting your money like I did x
There are a lot of gels that have prostaglandin or some derivative. They change eye color and eye lid color and burn! I’ve been using dulash eyelash growth gel http://www.dulash.com. It works naturally and safely. And it is less expensive than many of those listed in this blog
I used RL for more than 6 months, 2 tubes. Has stopped using it cause my lashes thick and long enough now… and my lashes actually still thick and never shed at all (praying hard still ok).
After reading most comments:
1. The RL I bought had clear instructions paper inside the box and had plastic seal. I wonder if there are fake RLs circulating?
2. Use it as instructed. Only a coat at night. Overuse it not gonna produce miracle. I also use eye drops regularly, so maybe it helps too?
I’ve never had any problems with RL, I started using it about 6 months ago (admittedly I don’t take my makeup off every night so the usage is a bit sporadic…) but since I have been using it I regularly get people asking if I’m wearing false lashes: “of course, those aren’t your lashes” “uh, who elses would they be you silly old bag…?!” and have had no redness or any other nasty symptoms, in-fact, I love it. I totally agree that some people are more sensitive than others so if you’re thinking about trying it, live a little and do it! It’s absolutely right you have a natural lash cycle (nothing lasts forever) but my gawd do they grow back … THIS PRODUCT IS AMAZING. Fact.
I have been using RL for about a month…Have eye pain after use, sensitivity to light and dry eyes. Will not be using any longer.
People, did you know that Camila Oil in its pure form can also grow eyelash/eyebrow hair. It is natural oil from the camila flower from Japan. Its much safer as opposed to all these harsh chemicals. These companies dont care about people and neither does the FDA. Its all about the almighty $. Try a natural products instead – way less risk. It can be difficult to find, but I did buy mine from henna sooq dot com. Good luck.
This product is fabulous… I sometimes put it over my eyeliner in the morning and go out… and every night, as well. After about 6 weeks, I look like Liza Minelli in Cabaret!! Unbelievable…
I bought RL 5 days ago from Bed Bath and Beyond, and have been using it for the last three nights now.
First morning after use, slight darkening on the lids.
Second Morning, darkening and swelling on the lids.
This morning, one lid was more swollen than the other..
And I think I can finally figure out where my headache came from the last couple days.. Not an overstatement to say that my driving abilities were also affected.
So ladies, I know we all can be vain and want beautiful lashes, but I dont think anyone would trade lashes for their general well-being and eye sight for them.
Im not waiting to see what worse could happen so im calling Bed Bath to see if i can return it, if not its going in the bin.
Never wrote a review as such but I really don’t wish for anyone to risk it. Think about the ads we see now on tv, maybe in 10 years, there’l be one asking “have you ever used RL and experience lost of eyesight etc…, if you have, you might be entitled for a $$ compensation..”
Health is above beauty to me.
YOu need to get your facts straight before putting out information on a product.. Rapid lash DOES NOt contain the glaucoma ingredient. The Fda made all manufactures that had that ingredient remove it. THe ONly company that can carry it is Allergan(Latisse).
ANd it has to be prescriped by a doctor due to some side effects that may be irreversible. Further more I have used Rapid lash since it came out (with zero side effects) and have people ask me if I have fake lashes. You also have to continue using the product for it to keep working.
You really need to remove your information from this its very misleading!!!
I wish I did find this site earlier.. . I have started using RL last night. I used on eyebrows, and both top and bottom lashes. Woke up this morning with dark circles and redness around my eyes and in , funny enough throughout the day ,the dark circles became pinkish :/ but no headache, no irritation (yet),I have applied it again tonight… I am being very sceptical now but just trying to give it a go… if the side effect gets worse I will discontinue it ….
ps. my box was sealed and included info, ordered from Treat Your Skin Ltd in the UK for
£25

PS: I have done so much research on these lash serums; I opted after all that research to try Rapid Lash; it is ‘on its way’ right now! I am excited!!!
Oh my gosh!! Had a terrible reaction to RapidLash!!! After using as directed for only one night, the area around my eyes became inflammed, irritated and swollen with incredible itching. In addition to the discomfort and embarrassing appearance, I’ve wasted the money spent for this product. With so many negative reviews just on this site, why is this unsafe product being sold on the open market????
The word is “wary” not weary. And “their” not “there.” Simple grammar people.
Rapid Lash works very well for a relatively low price. If you are not comfortable taking a chance on your eyelids then just use it for brows.
I have been using Rapid Lash for around 2 years and have absolutely no complaints. It has made my eyelashes long and thick. I have no complaints at all and just re ordered today.
