Best Budget-Friendly Cleansers

Someone recently asked me if I was high-maintenance. If he was referring to my skincare routine, he’d get his answer with just one glance inside my apartment. I’m always testing beauty products so pretty much every available horizontal space is littered with jars, bottles, tubes, vials, sprays, etc. In my ongoing pursuit for the best products on the market, I’ve found these drugstore face washes to be top-notch:
Double Duty: Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser

Although it’s not marketed as such, this cleanser is an awesome make-up remover and cleanser in one. I like to wear waterproof eye-liner and mascara, and I was amazed that this cleanser removed it effortlessly. Usually I’m left with faint raccoon eyes if I get lazy and skip using a seperate eye-makeup remover. Now I reach for this when I want to wash skip a step and make it quick.
Effortless Sun Protection: St. Ives Protective Cleanser
A face wash with sunscreen? Doesn’t it just rinse away? I had my doubts. Somehow the brainiacs at St. Ives figured out how to microencapsulate sunscreen that can be washed on and still block 90% of UVA/UVB rays. I use this on mornings I’m in a rush and need some protection (only better than no protection) from the sun during my commute. Only thing is, it just offers an SPF of 10 so it’s not a good choice for a day at the beach. Still a nice option for when you don’t have time (or you often forget) to apply your regular sunscreen.
Blemish Buster: Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Cream Wash

Maybe Benjamin Franklin wasn’t talking about this cleanser when he said “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” but it still rings true. I get occasional breakouts when I’m stressed, hormonal, or whenever cruel fate throws down a pesky pimple arbitrarily so I use this cleanser a few times a week to keep breakouts at bay. It contains 2% salicylic acid to degunk my pores of dirt and oil. And unlike many acne washes that aggressively dry out your skin, this one soothes your skin with a creamy lather of green tea and cucumber.
Night Owl Saver: Pond’s Original Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes

For the most part, I’m really good about washing my face every night. But on occasion, I stumble in late and the last thing I want to do is splash water on my face when there’s an inviting bed lulling me to sleep. I’ve found a secret weapon to fight my laziness (starting to sound familiar?). These towelettes stay by my bed, not in the bathroom. Even when laying down, I can muster up the energy to wipe off my makeup. It’s even contact lens safe and gentle enough to use around your eyes. Best of all, there’s no need to rinse. Just a few swipes across the face and then off to dreamland in no time!
