It’s finally here! Today, Gap will debut collections by Alexander Wang and Vena Cava. This is the moment every fashionista has been waiting for since May, when pictures of some of the designs hit the web.
The collections are part of Gap’s annual CFDA collaboration. In the past, the retail chain has commissioned designers to re-imagine the white shirt. But, it seems this year they’ve ventured past that idea and allowed designers to create a variety of pieces.
Right now, Alexander Wang is pretty much the hottest designer in fashion. And being the hottest designer in fashion means your clothes sell for hundreds and thousands of dollars. And Wang is no exception. He recently launched a line of t-shirts, that fetch anywhere from $60-$100. A little pricey for a cotton tank top or t-shirt.
Vena Cava is one of my favorite lables (as well as a large vein in the heart), designed by Parsons grads Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai. They always choose interesting fabrics that they then combine in interesting ways. They’re clothes have a vintage flavor that is equal parts tribal goddess and easy-breezy Girl About Town, mixed with a little glam.
Needless to say, the crowds are stirring, waiting for the doors to open today, so they can snatch up these highly covetable clothes. After all, it’s not everyday that top designers come out with affordable clothes. So, when they do, the fashion faithful must be there to see (and buy) for themselves.

Love Alexander Wang. His designs really make any of us gals look good
