Once Los Angeles Laker Derek Fisher made that final three-pointer during the last few seconds of Game Four in this year’s NBA Finals – against the Orlando Magic – you knew that the Lakers were closing in on their 15th NBA Championship. And who doesn’t love to cheer on a team of winners? From the regal Kobe Bryant to the pensive and Zen-like Coach Phil Jackson, and of course Derek Fisher, who got the crowds cheering throughout the City of Angels.
And now that it’s been okay-ed by the City of Los Angeles, today will be the official Lakers Day Parade – which will extend down Figueroa Street from the Staples Center to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. After the parade, there will also be a rally featuring the Los Angeles Lakers, Coach Phil Jackson, and more.
Coliseum gates opened at 9:30 AM today (Wednesday, June 17th) and fans (gals and guys alike) of the Championship team are encouraged to go and scream until they lose their voices. Note: The Staples Center and the L.A. LIVE property is closed to public foot and vehicle traffic. For more information, CLICK HERE.
Come to think of it, why am I sitting here at a computer? I should be driving downtown… GO LAKERS! Oh, but before I go, be sure to check out Derek Fisher’s message to his fans below:
