THE PROPOSAL

Okay, I admit it. I totally want to see this movie. Sandra Bullock stars as Margaret, a bitchy book editor who needs to find a husband fast to prevent her deportation back to Canada (the horror!). Conveniently, her assistant is the single and gorgeous Andrew (Ryan Reynolds)…see where this is going? Beauty pageant! Or – they have to go to Andrew’s family’s home in Alaska and pretend to be in love. Still not convinced? We get to see Ryan shirtless at least once.
YEAR ONE

The fact that I want to see this movie too is slightly more embarrassing. Set in biblical times, Jack Black stars as Zed, a lazy hunter who teams up with Oh (Michael Cera), a slacking gatherer of nuts and berries. After Zed eats the forbidden fruit and gets banished, Oh joins him on an epic journey to the end of the earth. Their misadventures include encounters with Cain & Abel (David Cross and Paul Rudd – reason enough to see this movie) and Abraham (Hank Azaria), and getting sold into slavery. Methinks Year One might not be about much of anything, but with its cast of comic gods, I might be able to grant the movie my forgiveness.

Yep. Year One looks great. I mean, it certainly looks absurd and silly too, but hey – why not?
