I’ll just come right out with it, I adore the fashion-sense of the Olsen twins. Say what you will, but those girls have style, whether you agree with it or not. Recently, Mary-Kate has been seen sporting some very grunge outfits. When I saw this my inklings were confirmed, the nineties are back!

It’s not just grunge that’s once again popular, but all things nineties are on the rise. Urban Outfitters is full of floral dresses and jumpers, that, if paired with Doc Martens will have people on the streets doing double-takes….thinking they’re in a time warp. Doc Martens has even cut out the middleman with their new line of  floral-print boots.

This emerging trend extends up the fashion food chain, too, with big designers coming out with nineties-inspired clothes. Nanette Lepore has come out with several pieces that take me back to the days of baby doll dresses and Nirvana. When I see all the lime green that’s back out, the nineties comeback was confirmed.

And I welcome it. Bring on the bustiers and cutoff jean shorts. I think it’s a welcome change from the spandex of the eighties. Everything about the nineties was better than the previous generation. At least, I think so. The music was better and more honest, supermodels dominated the world and fashion was edgier.

I welcome this change with open arms. Bring on the nineties!

the nineties weren't my favorite decade - hello, seventies! - but they weren't all that bad either. and really, i think i could be okay with a revival. so long as, you know, it stuck to the good stuff of the nineties (i.e. plaid flannels & gangsta-rap). but no more raver culture plz!

Nothing beats gangsta rap and baby doll dresses. I wish I kept all my old baby doll dresses... I think they're at a salvation army in Philly at this point.

I'm doing a feature on 90's revival fashion. The Olsens (MK in particular) definitely spearhead this trend. I not-so-secretly adore them as well.
