High school seniors know two things as their time in the sun winds down. College is really expensive and the prom is supposed to be a night they’ll never forget.
One Web site, Stuck at Prom, has found – what they think – is a great way to mesh these two truths. They are running a contest for the couple with the best prom dress made entirely out of duct tape and the winners each get $3,000 scholarships.
This all came out in the NY Daily News and kids seem to be very excited about putting 18 different colors of sticky tape all over their bodies or clothes or whatever. And for what? $3,000? Some funny pictures (Check out Gallery below!) ? Forget that.
Listen, we all know that money is tight and these are trying times. That makes $3,000 seem like a lot of money. And it is. But in the larger scope of college, it’s not all that much. For me, it’s certainly not enough to have to have pictures like the ones on those Web sites for the rest of my life. Not to mention the sticky stuff all over your body and the eventual Band Aid removal pain that happens when the night is over.
What if you plan on having sex that night? There’s nothing sexier than your partner screaming as you literally rip their clothes off. And some body hair and skin too.
Unfortunately, the school year is over and this advice is largely falling on deaf ears. But for any Juniors out there, just suck it up and rent a tux or buy a dress. Even if you go to the prom with someone who hates you a decade later, the pretty pictures are worth it.

I find it amusing that you actually think that people duct-tape these outfits to themselves. That’s not the case. They simply create these outfits like any other – the only difference is that it’s made from duct tape, as opposed to expensive fabrics.
^ right. some probably even just put tape over dresses and suits they already own. anyway, live a little. looks like these kids did and they’re having fun. who cares if you look a little goofy in a few years time.
it’s prom. not the end of your life
