‘Jennifer’s Body’ Trailer Shows Near Naked Megan Fox and More
After screenwriter Diablo Cody won an Oscar for writing “Juno” in 2008, everyone was wondering what her follow up would be. And when Megan Fox hit the big time with “Transformers” in 2007, that same question wandered through our heads.
The answer to both questions, as it turns out, is “Jennifer’s Body,” a horror comedy set for release September 18.
The first trailer for the film will be attached to “Bruno” which is in theaters July 10, but a more violent, “Red Band” trailer came online Sunday night. (To clarify, a regular trailer is preceded with a “Green Band” ensuring that it’s suited for all ages. A “red band” is not suited for all audiences. It’s basically an R-rated trailer.)
From the trailer, the film looks like it’s about the perfect, popular high school girl (Megan Fox), who is possessed by a demon and killing various boys. That then escalates into some sort of problem with her friend, played by Amanda Seyfried (“Mamma Mia”). All of this is permeated with Cody’s trademark witty/pop culture influenced dialogue and obvious self referential tendencies.
In theaters Friday, audiences won’t see a lot of that humor though. Director Karyn Kusama, producer Jason Reitman and Cody explained to the horror film Web site ShockTillYouDrop.
“Fox is putting a trailer of ‘Jennifer’s Body’ in front of ‘Bruno’ this Friday. Great, right? Only problem is it’s not our trailer. It’s kind of a straight horror preview and while we’re sure it’ll appeal to many of you, we wanted to make sure you guys got to see our cut… Lets call it the “filmmaker’s cut”. We think it captures the comedy and scares of the horror films we grew up on – a kind of nostalgia for when horror films were fun. Can’t wait to show you the whole film… In the meantime, here’s the red band trailer we wanted our fans to see.”
