After being the opening act at the Michael Jackson Memorial Service yesterday, Mariah Carey felt a little disappointed in her performance of the Jackson 5′s “I’ll Be There.” She describes her voice cracking during one part of the performance as “a true and honest emotional moment.”
For all performers, it really must have been one of the hardest performances of their careers. With the whole world watching and the Jackson family in the front row, I can’t imagine the emotions running through each performer.
Usher, another performer who did an outstanding job yesterday, also became emotional towards the end of his performance. He showed kind sincerity to Jackson by pausing and looking at the coffin before embracing the family at the end.
Immediately after her performance, Carey took to Twitter, letting her fans know how choked up she was and how she couldn’t give her best performance, “I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me.” For the record, I thought Mariah Carey did an outstanding job and wasn’t aware of any “slip-ups.”

I agree, I thought she did a great job. Such a moving event, really.
mariah’s just trying to cover up her bad voice, nothing more. it’s sad to say, but she just doesn’t have it anymore
she did a great job.
