Every week or so there’s a YouTube video that people start passing around, searching, and talking about. This week it’s Evian’s new commercial part of their “Live Young” Campaign.
It shows a bunch of babies, on roller skates, moving around and doing tricks to the sounds of “Rapper’s Delight.” All because they drank Evian water. The official version of the video has well over 2 million hits as of Thursday morning.
As purely an entertaining video, yes, it is interesting and kind of funny to see a bunch of smiling babies leap over each other on roller skates. However the effect isn’t even all that good. The computer animation is amateur at best and ends up looking more like a baby roller skating video game on X-Box 360 than actual babies who are SO invigorated by drinking Evian.
There’s the other way to look at it too. That adults drank Evian and felt so young they became babies. Which ever way you choose to interpret the clip, one fact remains. Neither babies, nor roller skates and especially not babies on roller skates have anything to do with water. Is water good for you? Yes. Does it make you feel younger? No. Healthier? Maybe.
Definitely check out the video, it’s worth 60 seconds of your time, but I would almost certainly buy Poland Spring or Fiji over Evian at this point. Just on principal alone.

This is a great ad and carries on from the babies synchronised swimming ad in the nineties. There were also a few viral teasers for this ad- http://tinyurl.com/m8d7gv
Evian don’t do much but when they do its a good one.
