Imagine you’re in a large room and standing in front of you are Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman. The lights go down.
Get your head out of the gutter. The male heartthrobs, best known for playing James Bond and Wolverine respectively, will both be appearing in the play “A Steady Rain” on Broadway beginning with previews Sept. 10. The show opens Sept. 29 and will run for 12 weeks only.
Written by Kevin Huff, the play is a two man show about Chicago police officers trying to get through an extremely difficult day. It opened to rave reviews in Chicago in 2007 and this is its Broadway debut.
Jackman, an Australian actor who was voted People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2008, not only hosted the Academy Awards this year, but made women everywhere drool as three time host of the Tony Awards and when he removes his shirt in everything from “Australia” to “X-Men.” He isn’t new to the stage either, having gotten his start there and winning a Tony for his performing in “The Boy from Oz.”
Craig, a British actor, is a little less famous than Jackman, but still made quite the impression on every female in existence when he walked out of the water in nothing but a blue bathing suit playing James Bond in “Casino Royale.” Besides being the new Bond, though, Craig has proved himself in a bevy of smaller roles including a sly gangster in “Layer Cake,” an evil murderer in “Road to Perdition” and most recently as a Jewish warrior in “Defiance.” “A Steady Rain” marks his Broadway debut.
