Seventeen-year-old Cheyenne Cherry pleaded guilty this morning to charges of animal cruelty and attempted burglary after having broken into her former roommate’s apartment, trashing it, stealing food and DVDs and then killing the roommate’s cat, Lily Tiger. According to reports, Cheyenne, along with an unnamed fourteen-year-old accomplice, killed the cat by placing it into a 500-degree oven, and then leaving. Apparently neither Cheyenne nor the other girl wanted to hear the cries of the cat, or it’s scratching at the oven door. For the crime, Cheyenne was served a one-year prison sentence. She also promised not to have a pet for, at least, three years.
Unrepentant to her deeds, however, Cheyenne left the courtroom this morning to greet the crowd of animal activists with two middle fingers, a stuck out tongue, and a short jeer, “It’s dead, bitch!” Apparently, she feels no remorse for her roommate’s cat.
As to the fourteen-year-old friend – who Cheyenne claims put the cat into the oven – she will serve her day at a Family Court, due to her young age, in the next week.
Now, I’ve heard of bad roommate breakups, and I’ve even heard of threats to the pets of old roommates – cats in particular for some reason – but this is just beyond cruel. While the jail time seems about right – in general, I believe excessive prison sentences can cause more harm than good, especially at seventeen – the promise to not keep a pet for three years, seems way, way, way too short. After you kill a cat in an oven – and at 500-degrees – you lose your right to keep a pet. Period. Or at least, that’s what I think.

damn, that's harsh! I have to admit, though. there's been a few times I've wanted to leave my roomie's cat three towns over, and never see her again. hate that thing. but, put it in an oven! shiiiit, that's rough.

This girl is an unrepentant sociopathic uber bitch & should be locked up for more than just a year. She has bad wiring in her head.Anyone who does something so cruel & horrible to an animal has some very serious mental health issues. I hope to God she NEVER has any children.Spay her now & save the world from another deranged child produced by a deranged parent. I think the 1 year in jail is a slap in the face to the public. One of the NY papers was saying this was not her first run-in with the law. Apparently she robbed a guy of his dog at gun point and robbed a different guy of his iPod at gunpoint.

A single year in jail for the type of agony she inflicted on that poor kitten seems hardly enough, especially for a person who is so dismissive about it. I got to believe though that this is going to haunt her for the rest of her life. Every time she tries to get a job, it will eventually come out that she’s *that* evil girl. Every time she makes a new friend or meets a new person, it will eventually come out that she’s *that* evil girl. Even when she’s old and gray and thinks it is forgotten, somebody will bring up the terrible thing that she did. She’ll never be at ease in the company of loving people and will have to settle for a lonely life or the dubious companionship from the type of people who don’t have a problem with what she did.

What!?! How the hell can you DO that to an animal? Break into someone's apartment and...and do that to SOMEONE ELSES animal. I'm on the verge of tears seeing not only how this poor animal perished but having to see practically no commemoration of the cat. This loony bitch needs a fucking life sentence. I know I'm far left and opposed to the death penalty but...that is too horrid.

What was that judge thinking?? This repeat-offending, deranged trash needs to be removed from society for much longer than one year, forever would be just fine with me. And I agree with martinajt, she should NEVER be allowed to have a pet, or be allowed near anyone else's for that matter. Maybe the universe will do us all a big favor and she'll meet up with a kitten-loving inmate with nothing to lose.

Are you kidding me?! She should NEVER have a pet ever again! This is not her first offense, what makes anyone think she will stop after this?! Its people like her the reason why I have so many cats at my own home. Saving them from people who don't care. Since when is it smart to put a living thing in an oven? No animal, especially those who can barely care for itself, deserves to die in that way.

w. archer is stupid! that kitten did not deserve to die! he to should go to jail for just saying that! like many people said its bad enough that kitten could not take care of herself on her own but a kitten to die that way? well thats just incredebely cruel and that girl was obciously careless.
