Denim can be really playful and fun when done right. It can also have devastating effects on fashion when done wrong- let acid-wash jeans be a lesson to us all. Right now, denim is all the rage and it’s blue streak extends way beyond jeans.
Before I go any further, let me get one thing straight. Never, under any circumstances, should you ever wear head-to-toe denim. That is never ok. Now that that’s out of the way, I can continue. A good piece to get you on board with this trend is the denim jacket. Go for something classic, nothing cropped or with too many rips, tears or fading. Brands like Gap and Lucky Brand are known for denim and would a good place to look for the perfect jacket. Check out some of the celebrities who’ve done denim right.
If you’ve got a wild side, try wearing denim in an unusual way, like a denim shoe or earrings. Right now high-end designers are trying to reinvent the denim wheel. You can pretty much find a denim version of anything these days. Marc Jacobs’ high-waisted denim shorts are an adorable option for summer. Wear them with wedges and a floral top and you will be on point.
This is also a trend you can find in second-hand stores. After all denim has been around for decades. When rummaging through vintage shops look for classic brands like Levi’s and Wrangler.
Denim has obviously withstood the test of time. So, find out how you can work it into your wardrobe. Chances are, denim will be here long after your gone.

although I would generally agree with your "no all-denim look" point of view, i must say, sometimes it works. now, not all the time, or even most of the time. but sometimes, yes, an all-denim look can be classix. undeniably so wish i could post some pictures though to prove my point!
