Last week, two workers were killed when a stage collapsed while being erected for an upcoming Madonna show. Sunday, on the day the cancelled show was supposed to take place, Madonna visited the family of one of those workers as well as several people still recovering from injuries.
People.com reported that the pop star took the time out of her schedule with two of her kids, David and Mercy, to visit the family of Charles Criscenzo, 53, a French technician, who was killed on stage. E Online also said that she visited at least one hospital that had some of the workers who were injured in the event. The singer was dressed in black and did not address the media.
The accident, which happened last Thursday, was at the Velodrome Stadium in Marseille where Madonna was scheduled to perform in front of 66,000 people. After the tragedy struck, Madonna took the stage in Udine, Italy and expressed her pain that this accident happened on her watch. “I hate to be associated with suffering. I want to pay tribute to their families,” she said.
French authorities have opened a manslaughter investigation into the collapse but haven’t figured what caused it yet.
