I’m a sucker for cute packaging. I admit it, so on a recent trip to Rite-Aid I picked up Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara simply because I liked the packaging. It’s black, shiny and in the shape of a stiletto. I couldn’t resist. Normally I’m not to impressed with Maybelline mascaras but I was pleasantly surprised by this one.
First of all this is a lengthening mascara. It does not give a lot of volume, so if you have fine or thin lashes you may want something wtih a little more oomph. I comes in three shades Brown, Black and Very Black. I really like the Very Black color. A lot of companies don’t carry a Very Black and if you are like me and have black eyelashes you know that most mascaras just aren’t dark enough.
One thing that is different about this mascara is that you do not want to let it dry in between coats. Just keep building until you get the length that you want then let it dry. It’s water resistant so it wont flake or run and since it really only lengthens it’s great for the bottom lashes. The wand is also shaped like a stiletto (those clever Maybelline marketing guys) but the tapered edge really gets to those tiny corner lashes with out gouging out your eye.
All in all this is a good product and if lengthening is your goal than this is the mascara for you. But I, like most women, want more volume as well so the search for the World’s Most Amazing mascara continues. I will probably buy it again too, that is, until an ever cuter package catches my eye.
