Most of the people that know me, know that I am not the most eco-friendly person around. I do recycle and drive a car with good gas mileage, but that’s about as far as my green streak extends. Until, I got a wonderful little bag called Maptote that is.

These genius little totes are not only environmentally friendly – made right here in the USA, out of 100% natural and organic cotton or canvas – but they are printed with maps of various cities too. Which is just adorable as well as potentially helpful if you’re ever lost in an unfamiliar place. I got my tote printed with a map of Los Angeles, to represent my current home city!

However, you don’t have to be from LA to enjoy these, guys and girls from New York to Japan can rock them too. For example, there’s one for every borough in the Big Apple as well as lesser known geographic locations like Nantucket or Charlottesville. But if you’re looking for a bag with, say, a map of Fresno, CA, on it – you’re outta luck. It might be a while before the company gets around to that as, for now, it’s mostly major cities.

That said, the one’s they do currently have are great, as each is personalized with symbols and landmarks specific to the city. Which makes it a great way to show city pride or to familiarize yourself with that city you dream of living in. With bags starting at only $15, it’s also an inexpensive way to help the planet. Cheaper than say, converting your car to run on biodiesel at least. I know I feel much better when I opt to put my groceries in my tote as opposed to a plastic bag!

I like this idea! For a while now I've been collecting canvas bags - not only are they practical, they're cheap, stylish and environmentally friendly too! I've also found they make for great souvenirs, reminding me of the good times I've had in cities throughout the world. However, there are a few cities I've visited that I never got a bag from! So this is perfect!
