Fashion designer Rory Edelman is really coming into her own. And so is her three-year-old label, Rory Beca. I’d say, the line is pretty much in full bloom.
Her designs are kittenish, mixing easy California-style with a touch of sophistication and playfulness, without sacrificing tailoring. If you’re a girly-girl, you will love Rory Beca’s clothes. Most of her designs involve ruffles and floral…but not in a childish way. And if you’re not a girly-girl, well….you still might be able to find a Rory Beca outfit you like, but it’ll be a bit of a search.
But, you won’t have to search hard to find a store that sells Rory’s duds. From major department stores like Barney’s and Neiman Marcus to small boutiques, her clothes are popping up everywhere. Not to mention they are available at pretty much every online retailer there is. You can’t swing a shopping bag (virtual or not) without hitting a Rory Beca design.
Some of my favorite pieces are from the summer 2009 collection. There are floral tops paired with lovely relaxed-looking violet shorts and a series of pieces made from clean white silk with bold pink watercolor flowers.
And rest assured, this girl knows what she’s doing. She has studied at Central St. Martins in London and seems to have a real passion for all things fashion-related.
Like the flowers on her clothes, this designer is really blossoming.

Not a fan of all the above looks - the one of the model in black tights? frightening! - but I really like the floral shirt mixed with the jean shorts. I think the necklace helps balance it out too.
