New Reality Series ‘More to Love’ Sets Dangerous Precedent

Tonight on FOX, women are objectified in a way they have never been before.

At 9 p.m. the new show “More to Love” premieres. It stars a 26-year-old former college football player named Luke Conley. He’s 6 foot 3 inches tall, weighs 300 pounds and makes a ton of money as a sub-contractor and real estate investor. He also likes his women to be full figured and hopes to find a long lasting relationship with one.

So basically, “More to Love” is “The Bachelor” with fat women.

And that’s not me saying that, that’s FOX. They were the ones (along with Mike Fleiss, producer of “The Bachelor”) who decided to make a show where all the contestants were “full figured.” Basically, it’s segregation. Nothing, besides their weights (which, in some cases, aren’t THAT extravagant), makes these women different from the ones on “The Bachelor” or “Joe Millionaire” or any other number of crappy dating reality shows. These women just happen to be size 8 instead of 2.

So why make this show? Not for the romance. Oh no. People will tune into this hoping to see women who are physical train wrecks. Sorry to disappoint, but just from looking at the women on the show, they don’t seem poised to a go on a crazy eating binge. They all look very comfortable in their skins. Those skins just happen to be larger than most other women who are on TV.

If the same producers did other shows where the guys preferred blonds or brunettes, or tall/short girls, then maybe a show like this would be okay. But those shows don’t exist because they would be boring and women don’t like to be classified as anything other than women. A show like this sets a dangerous precedent because by singling out “full figured” women as the center of the show, one can only assume there will be plenty of exploration of that nature.

“More to Love” seems more like something to hate. But we’ll wait and see. Maybe the show is actually very sweet. But either way, it could be a big problem waiting to happen. Check out the Preview below.

  1. What are you talking about?! This is totally different than singling out blondes or brunettes. Maybe if brunettes were shunned as hideous and incapable of being attractive by the mass media and society at large, it would be the same. This is a class of individuals that has been systematically excluded from these kinds of shows. You don’t need a show featuring brunettes because all hair colors are represented on reality shows–all sizes of women are not. I’m not watching it for the potential train wreck, but instead to see a realistic portrayal of bigger women who often get the short end of the stick (undeservedly so). Perhaps the point is exactly that these women aren’t any different from the regular bachelorette–society needs to be reminded of this.

  2. Agree with ABCD, the author of this article is too quick to assume. If you want an example of train wreck reality shows….heck that’s ALL of them! I cannot wait for the reality show fad to die a quick, horrible and painful death. UGGHH!! Somebody want fame?….go find the cure for cancer, win world peace, something. Quit encouraging these self serving shits.

  3. “These women just happen to be size 8 instead of 2.”

Seriously??? When did size 8 become overweight

  4. maybe if “larger figured” women were allowed on regular television shows, we wouldn’t need our very own. but no! even that is too much for some. got to get all the bigger women off tv!

  5. This is an awesome show! I am watching for the first time right now. There is only 15 minutes left to go for tonight’s episode and I wish it was longer! I see nothing wrong with it and it’s nothing like segregation. I don’t see anything wrong with an “all-blondes” show either. This guy likes bigger women, so the bachelorettes should be big women. The regular show: “the Bachelor/Bachelorette” also chooses the type of women that Bachelor wants.

    This is a GREAT SHOW!

  6. And another thing is, it’s a great show because it will take away the extreme prejudice for some people about bigger women and men. It shows they are just like anyone else but have a bigger physical body. So what! “Dangerous precedent”? Lol. Lighten up!

  7. I watched about half the show last night and then shut it off. I found it completely exploited most of the young women and it sickened me. I don’t mind the concept of the show but the way the girls paraded themselves out of that car and the behavior so many of them displayed, as though they were DESPERATE for love made my stomach turn. Why oh why did we have to make yet another show based on someone else’s misery? Most of these women exhibited no confidence whatsoever. There were a handful who truly did seem comfortable in their own skin and dressed and acted accordingly.

I hope this show is canceled quickly before permanent harm is done to the young girls who may be watching.

  8. COMPLETELY DISGUSTING!!! says:

I think this show is absolutely disgusting! Al the women were crying about the how fat they are, maybe the show should surprise everyone and turn it into the biggest loser. This show is not going to make it because no one wants to watch a bunch of whales! It’s not OK to be fat, so don’t make a show about it! It’s sending the wrong message about what is ok and the only ones that are going to disagree with that are fat people! qnd on top of that, the guy seems like a creep!
