Onesies are cute….to look at. Actually wearing one? That’s a whole other story. I’m all too familiar with the current onesie phenomenon. I work in a clothing store that has recently been stalking the shelves with all manner of onesies. Short ones. Long ones. Ones with ruffles. They come in all varieties. Unfortunately, that does not make then ideal for all varieties of women.
(Before continuing, I must clear up one thing. The onesies I refer to are not of the baby variety, in case you were confused. The adult versions are also referred to as rompers or jumpers.)
If you’re young and a size 0, I say try out all the onsies you can because you’re about the only people who can pull off this look. Which makes the onesie the perfect outfit for starlets like Blake Lively and Vanessa Hudgens. Check out this gallery of all the stars who have jumped on onesie bandwagon.
Of all the onesies out there, one of my favorites is a tribal-print halter romper by Zachary’s Smile sold at Anthropologie. It’s the perfect transitional piece to go from beach to an evening dinner date with ease (and a few accessories). Sunner also makes several styles, from long to short.
To onesie or not to onesie? That is the question of Summer 2009.
