FUNNY PEOPLE

SuperProducer Judd Apatow ’s latest flick is a comedy about comedians. So meta, I know. Adam Sandler stars as George Simmons, a famous stand-up comic who is diagnosed with a deadly, inoperable blood disorder. With less than a year to live, he’s faced with a big question: should he continue to be an asshole, or change his life? Jonah Hill, Jason Schwartzman and Leslie Mann also play roles. Funny People doesn’t seem to fit in with the more typical Apatow flicks (40 Year-Old Virgin, Superbad, Knocked Up), but it’s bound to be…humorous, right?
ALIENS IN THE ATTIC

Do you really need an explanation of this one? Ashley Tisdale and some other kids star in this PG family film about finding aliens. In the attic. Something tells me it’s no E.T.
THE COLLECTOR

If Orphan didn’t freak you out enough last week, this one has been rated R for “pervasive sadistic bloody violence.” Yum. It’s about a man who breaks into a rich family’s house to steal a gem so he can pay off his debts – only to find out that The Collector, a masked man who turns the house into a nightmare of violent traps (we’re not talking Home Alone marbles here). It’s director Marcus Dunstun’s first time behind the camera, but he’s no stranger to horror; he wrote Saw IV and Feast.
