AC/DC may have sang “Back in Black,” but frontman Angus Young is back in a different color, red. He is the latest rocker to lend his image and reputation to a new sneaker by Converse.
It’s only natural that Converse would team with legendary badass rockers like Angus Young. After all, many a rocker has sported a pair of chucks while playing to a crowd of adoring fans. Now it’s time for the shoe company to return the favor, I suppose.
And rock stars aren’t the only people who like wearing Chucks. Celebrities from Jennifer Aniston to Adrian Grenier have been spotted wearing the famous sneakers. I guess the rebellious edge of the shoes has softened a bit over the years. Hopefully imprinting red high tops with Angus’ face and the warning “Lock up your daughters” written across the side of the sole. We shall see.
Other legendary, and often notorious rockers, that have collections with Converse include The Who, Pink Floyd and the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne.
What the Ramones started, Converse is determined to continue. No matter how many wishy-washy celebrities sport these shoes, they have their roots in rock ‘n’ roll. Let’s hope that never changes.
