It’s been a while since I’d seen or heard anything about Leann Marshall, Project Runway’s Season 5 winner and my personal favorite. So, I thought I’d take a look at her website and see what she’s up to these days.
Her finale collection for the hit reality show blew me away. I had never seen anything so structurally interesting, yet feminine and flirty at the same time. Done almost entirely in white and robin’s egg blue it was clean and cohesive. Not to mention, eco-friendly. And the petals (as Michael Kors refered to them), well, those were something else all together. If she hadn’t won that season, I would have swore off Project Runway forever.
She followed up her winning Project Runway collection with a Fall 2009 collection that is like an edgy fairytale, with full-length gowns, short dresses embellished with asymmetrical cutouts, pleats and folds, and lot’s of texture. My favorite being a purple mini-dress with a skirt comprised of dozens of stair-like pleats.
Her line, which goes by the name Leanimal, is available at stores in Portland, OR and New York City. And then there’s the online shop on etsy.com, where her clothes sell like hotcakes. Get ‘em while they’re hot! This girl’s star is on the rise!
Speak of the devil (er, designer) just after finishing this post, I found this little ditty. I guess I wasn’t the only one wondering what Leann Marshall is up to these days.

I agree, that purple dress is super cute! (and elegant!) I would love to have it.
I loved Leannes collection from the start and she is a graduate of FIDM where I am at right now! I used to come back after class to just see what amazing stuff she would come up with on Project Runway. I have to start shopping at etsy.com!!! Speaking of Project Runway…did anyone hear that Project Runway chose FIDM instead of Parsons as their West Coast Location for the new season? Because if that is true that is soooo awesome!!!
