As the countdown clock slowly ticks off the days until the August 20th premiere of Season 6 of Project Runway, here’s a look at the new cast of designers to hold you over until then.
While the show may be on a new network (Lifetime) and in a new city (Los Angeles), judging by the new lineup of designers, I think the drama will be the same. Thank, God! After all, what’s fashion design without the drama?
I’ve taken a look at some of the designers’ profiles and I can already tell who I’m going to hate and who I’m going to like. To heck with it, I’m just gonna give you my best and worst picks.
Let’s start with the best. I have two favorites, Mitchell Hall and Ra’mon-Lawrence Coleman. Both of these guys have really interesting styles and their clothes appear to be well made, judging by their casting videos. Mitchell prefers not to use color and instead uses neutral tones for all his feminine designs. Ra’mon-Lawrence on the other hand uses lot’s of textures and saturated colors for his sophisticated, yet funky, clothing.
I’ve saved the worst for last. Two of my absolute least favorite designers are Louise Black and Qristyl Frazier. Louise’s goth style is just not my taste, plus her designs are just tacky, to be honest. The same with Qristyl, although I do applaud her for designing for plus-size ladies. I can already hear the horrible comments Nina Garcia and Michael Kors will doll out to these two.
And I refuse to get behind designer Nicolas Putvinski. If Sienna Miller was photographed wearing one of your dresses in a fashion magazine, then I’d say you’re already an established designer and you don’t need to be on a show like PR.
If I was Heidi Klum, I’d say to Nicolas, “I’m sorry, but you’re out.”
