They’re baaaaack! The bunny ears Madonna wore to the Met’s Costume Institute Gala in May are back atop the Material Girl’s head in the Fall Louis Vuitton print ads.
That is where they always should have been and stayed. On the pages of a magazine. Never mind that the ears were designed by Marc Jacobs, the genius behind Louis Vuitton. They are still ridiculous when worn in any instance other than a glamorous photo shoot for a French fashion label. These ears are strictly editorial and advertorial.
What a crafty move on the part of LV, though. Think about it. There was so much buzz (most of it bad) surrounding Madonna’s outfit on that infamous night. That’s sure to garner huge buzz (like this here post) around the new campaign and hopefully drive customers into stores. After all, any publicity is good publicity.
The ad is quite literally a tricked-out version of the exact outfit she wore to the gala, with a few Madonna-esque touches (fingerless gloves) tacked on for good measure. Who knew such a fashion mishap would turn into gold for the fashion house? Well, the gold has yet to be seen, but you can bet that’s what LV is banking on.
Hopefully this bunny won’t break the bank!
