People Magazine got quite the scoop last week when they got most of the members of “Saved By The Bell” to reunite on their cover.

Noticeably missing was Dustin Diamond, aka Screech, who – it has now come out – was not even invited. “Cast members were not comfortable with including him,” a People rep told RadarOnline.com.

But why would Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley and Lark Voorhies shun their nerdy best friend? Is it that he released a sex tape? Had some problems with his taxes? Maybe. But the real reason is that he’s written a new book called “Behind the Bell” which is reportedly a behind the scenes tell all of the popular ’90s television show. It’ll be released in September.

“What is he going to say? We were banging groupies at 14? I can’t wait to read his book, because I don’t have a memory of a lot of the shows,” Zack Morris himself, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, told Newsweek. “Maybe it was because I was doing lines off of the audience members’ asses. I’m sure he’s going to write something crazy like that… I’m not really afraid of what he has to say. There are not too many skeletons in my closet.”

The promise of a “Saved By the Bell” reunion was championed on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” and culminated in the “Saved By the Bell” reunion photo on the People cover.

Here’s hoping that we get the real thing at some point – we all know Screech would be down for some celebrity boxing.
