GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra
The famous Hasbro toy hero must fight against the evil organization called Cobra in this big summer action flick that’s in the vein of all those other big summer action flicks. Dennis Quaid and Channing Tatumstar as General Hawk and Duke Hauser, with the rest of the cast including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marlon Wayans and Sienna Miller. It’ s one of many future toy-inspired movies; everyone in Hollywood shared a smirking WTF? when a movie based on the Viewmaster was announced a few weeks ago.
Julie & Julia
Amy Adamsstars as Julie Powell, a secretary who spends a year cooking all 524 recipes from famed chef Julia Child’s cookbook and blogging about her experiences. Meryl Streep plays Julia, as the film also takes us back to Julia’s heyday when she was living in Paris with her husband Paul (Stanley Tucci). Is cooking and blogging enough for a movie? Either way, Amy and Meryl are bound to be a delicious combination.
A Perfect Getaway
I’ll give you a hint: this getaway isn’t so perfect. When newlyweds Cliff and Cydney (Steve Zahn and Mila Jovovich) go backpacking in the lush Hawaiian wilderness for their honeymoon, they meet other hikers who know about the gruesome murder of another newlywed couple. Then I think it’s safe to say that shit goes down.
