Supermodel Kate Moss is a trendsetter. Alert the news! Ok, so the model’s ability to influence the masses is no surprise. Now, she’s done it again.
The latest fashion frenzy surrounding the British model all started with the lamé one-shoulder gown (with matching metallic turban) she wore to the Met Costume Institute Gala in May. It seems similar shimmery numbers are showing up on all the resort runways, starting with Marc Jacobs, the man behind the original dress. Chris Benz, Alexander Wang and Michael Kors have also hopped aboard the Kate Moss trend train with their recent collections.
It’s only a matter of time before Kate’s newest craze spreads from the fashion elite to masses of girls worldwide, as it has in the past.
While I won’t deny Kate her rightful place atop the pantheon of all that is fashionable, I can’t quite pin down what causes her to have such an affect on fashion trends. Especially these days, when she’s so far past her waifish heyday of the early nineties, when she became famous for being the anti-supermodel.
I guess it just proves that the Kate Moss effect extends deep in the fashion consciousness. And it may never die. While she may be past her model prime, she’s obviously still a presence. She was never just a model. Kate Moss was, and always will be, a worldwide fashion muse.
