Someone should tell Kathy Griffin that just because it’s the Teen Choice Awards doesn’t mean you choose your own teen. The comedian, 48, brought Levi Johnston, 19 as her date to the awards show that airs Monday night. Of course Johnston is the ex-fiance of Bristol Palin, daughter of former Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin. He’s also the father of Bristol’s son, Tripp and has been attempting to make a name for himself for the past several months, appearing all over television and in magazines discussing the Palin family.
That, of course, makes him the perfect choice for the self proclaimed “D-List” celebrity and star of the Bravo show “My Life on the D-List” to bring as her date. He gets his publicity and she gets to mess with people’s heads. “I just, you know, look at her, shut up and do what I’m told,” Johnston told the New York Daily News in what was apparently a very self-aware, joking tone. Griffin went even further with the gag, suggesting they had been dating for a while but there was one major obstacle in their relationship.
“Long-distance relationships are not easy, especially when he’s in his igloo and I’m in my Hollywood tower,” said Griffin.
