Nut butters are one of the healthiest foods around. They get a bad wrap for being high in fat and calories, but we all know that healthy fat keeps dieters fuller for longer and the calories and protein give athletes the energy and muscle building power they need. Plus, its creamy nuts- how can you go wrong?
Well, there’s one way- try and take it on the go. I work long hours as a trainer, and have a split shift schedule, so rarely am I home for either lunch or dinner. When I do get to eat, its usually between sessions, so I tend to stick to snack-like foods I can eat quickly. One of my favorite snacks that not only tastes great, but is healthy and can hold me over for hours is carrots dipped in peanut or almond butter. Try it, trust me. But it seemed the only way I could take butters with me to work was to:
1) Bring the entire jar with me, and if you’ve seen my purse, there isn’t much room
2) Dirty a Tupperware by putting it in there, which is fine on the way, but somehow those Tupperwares never make it back home
3) Put it in a zip lock bag. The zip lock bag works fine, but the only way to get it out again is to cut a hole in the corner and pastry chef it out- which usually ends up in squiggly lines of nut butter all over the office.
No more. Barney Butter, who just so happens to make my fave almond butter variety (chunky, of course) makes handy little 90-calorie on the go almond butter pouches. They are single serving for easy portion control, easy to open and in true Barney Butter fashion, delicious.
These little pouches are perfect for kids’ lunches, easily portable and most importantly, healthy. As always, Barney Butter on-the-go packets come from a peanut-free facility, are gluten free, and have less saturated fat than peanut butter. Toss them in your purse, your gym bag, your lunch box or even your pocket and always have a healthy dose of nutrients anytime, anyplace.

EVERYONE’S talking about Barney Butter! I’ve never tried it. But I want to really badly.
I’m also now craving a massive bowl of PB oats, thanks a lot
