You’ve poured yourself a scotch, taken up chainsmoking and created a retro cartoon of yourself for Facebook and Twitter. Yep, it’s time for new episodes of Mad Men. Season three starts up this Sunday at 10 on AMC, after a seemingly interminable summer without 60s fashion and uncomfortable silences. The show was nominated for 16 Emmys this year (the most of any drama; only 30 Rock topped it), and looks to be just as compelling as ever.

At the end of last season, Peggy finally told Peter she had been pregnant with his child months earlier – and Betty, after consulting disapproving doctors about a possible abortion, came clean to Don about her own pregnancy. So what’s going to happen now? My guess is – probably more scotch and chainsmoking and people not talking about their problems until the next season finale.

Promo posters for the show depict leading ad man Don Draper (Jon Hamm) sitting in his posh office which is flooded with water. Though Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner is notoriously mum about upcoming storylines, Jon Hamm recently told The Chicago Tribune that “Those waters are rising in every possible way. There are some new situations … that [Draper] has to navigate in almost every aspect of his life.”
