The 2009 lineup for ABC’s hit reality show Dancing with the Stars was announced earlier this morning on Good Morning America. The show, which pairs b-list celebrities with professional dancers to perform their own renditions of the jitterbug, foxtrot, rumba and a number of other dances, is on its ninth season and is as popular as ever. And from the looks of it, that’s not about to change.
The show’s celebrities has always been a fun medley of actors, athletes, musicians and other public figures, and so it is with season nine. The Dancing with the Stars 2009 lineup is as follows: Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina the Teenage Witch), Mark Dacascos (the Iron Chef), Macy Grey and Mya (R&B singers), Donny Osmond (former teen idol), Aaron Carter (pop singer / brother of Nick), Kelly Osbourne (pop singer / daughter of Ozzy), Michael Irvin (former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver), Natalie Coughlin (Olympic swimmer), Chuck Liddell (MMA fighter), Louie Vito (snowboarder), Debi Mazar (Entourage actress), Ashley Hamilton (actor), Kathy Ireland and Joanna Krupa (swimsuit models) and Tom DeLay (former House Majority Leader).
While most of the picks are as you would expect, a few of the picks I found especially interesting. Tom DeLay, for example, a former Republican party leader who was last seen stepping down amidst charges of campaign finance abuse will now be on your TV screen doing the Tango? As will current MMA badass Chuck Liddell? As I said earlier, it looks to be another great season.
The Dancing with the Stars season nine premiere will show on ABC on Monday, September 21 at 8 p.m. Eastern.

I won’t be watching, though I’ll keep an eye out for clips of Liddell. I’m curious how well he can dance w/o clotheslining his partner. I’d rather see Tyson Griffin or Sodallah on there, though.
