It’s happened to all of us. You finally find THE ONE. The perfect shade of lipstick. The one that makes you look better than any other woman in the room. Or perhaps it’s a lip gloss of near perfect texture and shade or the eyeshadow that makes your eyes sparkle. It’s your “go to” product, the one you go back for time and time again, it’s perfect, it’s amazing, it’s….discontinued!! What?? NO!! Heartbroken, you proceed to purchase all that they have left and dread the day that you actually, truly use it all up and have to begin the search again.

But, all hope is not lost and Three Custom Color Specialists may have the answer. They can custom blend almost anything from lipsticks to face powder and it’s all done through the mail or phone order. You never even have to leave your house. How is it done you ask? Well there are three different ways to customize your color. The first and (I think) easiest way is to search their archives. Three Custom Color keeps all of the shades that they have previously made on file. Was your favorite lipstick discontinued years ago? Check the archives and see if your shade is there already. I searched for an old favorite lipstick of mine from high school (Revlon Cherries in the Snow) and yup, it’s there ready for me to order. Too cool.

The second and most accurate way to customize or remake a product is to send them a small sample. They ask for a dime sized sample and from that will recreate your product based on shade, texture and coverage. Your input matters too. Once your product is recreated they will send you a small sample to try so you can test it and give them any feedback on what you want adjusted. If something isn’t quite right they will re-blend. You will not get the full product until you approve it. After all, this is being made just for you and they want to get it right.

The third way to customize is really cool and I know many make up artists who use this type of customization. At Three Custom Color you can create your own shades. Say you have a favorite nail polish and want a lipgloss to match it. No problem. Send them a small sample of your polish. They will match it. They can customize from just about any sample you can send them. The sky is the limit. They also keep every customer and their customizations on file so when it comes time to reorder all of your personal preferences are automatically taken into account.

Prices vary by product and as for price well, it’s a bit more than your average department store prices. Although with how expensive cosmetics are getting your looking at about double or just under double department store prices. You can get a better idea of pricing at their website:

Wow, this is pretty cool. A little outside of my price range - as of now, at least - but still very cool. In fact, I already have a few ideas that would look great! Maybe I'll pick some up for a special occasion...
