INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS

inglorious-bastards-1

No, I didn’t spell that incorrectly. Quentin Tarantino’s latest Nazi-era flick has a bizarre title - and Brad Pitt, so I’m pretty much guaranteed to see it. It also stars Melanie Laurent as Shoshanna Dreyfus, a woman who watches the Nazis kill her family and then escapes to Paris, where she becomes the owner of a cinema. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Pitt) has been organizing Jewish soldiers (know as the “Basterds”) around Europe to seek revenge against the Nazis. So far critics seem to like this one, which is certainly not your average war movie.

POST-GRAD

POST-GRAD-1

Is it wrong that I really totally want to see this movie? Alexis Bledel of Gilmore Girls fame hasn’t had all that much luck on the big screen, but she’s trying again in this PG-13 coming-of-age drama (comedy? dramedy? movie that’s not really serious but not really funny?) about a recent college graduate who’s confronted with the all-too-relatable question: now what? My favorite Friday Night Lights quarterback Zach Gilford stars as her boyfriend, so extra points for that.

SHORTS

SHORTS-1

This PG kids’ movie with a dumb name features the voices of Jon Cryer, William H. Macy and Leslie Mann. It’s about an 11 year-old boy who starts making wishes when a magic rock falls from the sky (I’m not making this up), causing his town (which is dominated by a creepy industry that makes Black Box devices) and its residents to change.
