Kim Zolciak may be a real housewife of Atlanta, but those blond tresses are not so real. On the show’s reunion special, Kim made a tearful revelation that she wears a wig – and not for fashion, but for medical reasons. Fellow cast member NeNe Lakes had mocked her hair on the show, prompting a viewer to write in and ask if it was real.
“I got very sick,” she explained, starting to break down into tears. “About three years ago I lost 25 pounds and my hair started falling out.” A doctor friend of hers had said he was 90 percent sure she had cancer - and when host Andy Cohen said, “So you had cancer,” she didn’t really respond, seeming to confirm that.
But as Kim continued, that became less clear. Her focus shifted to NeNe and her criticism of Kim’s hair: “I wouldn’t choose to walk around with a hairpiece, EVER,” Kim said. ”Nobody would. And for you to say that, NeNe, you knew. I got really scared.” NeNe interjected: “I didn’t know that you were sick. When you said you had cancer, that’s the first time I ever heard that.” She explained that she thought Kim “wore the hairpiece for style.”
Why did Kim let them think she had cancer? And why wouldn’t these people have known she was sick? Strange, right? Sensing the confusion, Andy asked Kim flat-out: ”Did you have cancer?” She said no – she had some other problems, which she didn’t explain further. But she’s better now: ”It’s been almost three years, and my bloodwork’s been great,” she said.
so she got rid of her hair, cause she thought she *might* have cancer? do i have that right?
apparently she had some other kind of disease that made her hair fall out… it’s very strange to me…
and I wonder why she still needs a wig if she’s better?
Actually this reminds me of Rob Thomas’s wife who had an autoimmune disorder and it was the same symptoms. Hair was falling out, got very thin etc. It might be that she got rid of her hair and wears a wig because it is not as full as it once was (bald patches maybe) and chooses to wear a wig. However autoimmune disorders are very similar to cancer and that’s probably why they thought she had cancer. Can I just say how disgusting her “friend” NeNe was? If there was ever a person who had so much karma against her. Apparently she’s not as a good of a friend as one would think if she couldn’t figure out that her friend who was losing a lot of weight was sick. That’s pretty low. But then look at each of these women even Kim herself.. They represent the most hungry for attention and lack class.
