OMG. Project Runway is back, and last night kicked things off with THREE HOURS of PR goodness. Before the regular Season 6 premiere we were treated with a two-hour All Star Challenge in which our faves from old seasons came back to compete in a one-time challenge for $100,000 – the same amount of money awarded for winning an entire regular season.
The word “all-star” was used a bit liberally – only one season winner showed up (Jeffrey Sibelia), while two of the contestants had not even made it to the top three on their respective seasons (Sweet P and Chris March). Some things never change, though. Sweet P still makes cutesy things, Uli still loves dresses, Santino’s still loud and crazy, and Jeffrey’s still a bit of an egomaniac.
(SPOILER ALERT.) Designers had to create a mini collection, and then – SURPRISE! – they had to make a fourth piece from materials taken from a restaurant. Season Two runner-up Daniel Vosovic won the show with his sporty-chic pieces, while Korto Momolu was second (again) with her gorgeous, figure-flattering collection. I was disappointed Uli didn’t make it into the top four with her more refined dresses.
On to the regular premiere: The newbies walked on to the Emmy Awards’ red carpet, where they discovered their first challenge would be creating a red carpet look to demonstrate innovation and their unique points of view as designers. It proved tough for Johnny Sakalis, whom Tim Gunn consoled when he broke down crying. Ari Fish may be the season’s weirdo, as she did handstands instead of sketching. The show’s big surprise, though? Lindsay Lohan as a guest-judge. If that’s where we start, it should be an interesting season!

Oh no! I missed this! I'm sure there will be re-runs all week and everything, so whatever, but still! Plus now I know who wins :(
