Thirtysomething-1

It pioneered the trend of defiantly not capitalizing things – and it was a pretty good show, too. I’m talking about thirtysomething, the critically acclaimed drama about two couples and three singles in Philadelphia. The show premiered in 1987 and lasted four seasons, and for the first time, it’s finally available on DVD.

To celebrate the release, the entire cast appeared on Good Morning America today: Ken Olin (Michael Steadman), Mel Harris (Hope Steadman), Melanie Mayron (Melissa Steadman), Timothy Busfield (Elliot Weston), Patricia Wettig (Nancy Weston), Polly Draper (Ellyn Warren) and Peter Horton (Gary Shepherd).

“It’s a long time,” said Patricia Wettig, but “there’s just a chemistry with the seven of us.” Peter Horton echoed her sentiments: “We hadn’t been together as a whole group since really the show. It felt so natural and like we hadn’t left each other.” Melanie Mayron joked that it seems ”like no time had gone past, except for when we see the pictures.” You certainly can’t ignore their awesome big hair and acid wash jeans.

Most of the stars have been staying busy in the nearly two decades since the show ended; Ken Olin is a regular on ABC’s Brothers and Sisters, while Timothy Busfield is a regular on Entourage as the director of Johnny Chase’s TV show.
