Kate Gosselin on “Larry King Live”

Kate and Jon Gosselin split up in June, spurring a storm of buzz and bad math puns about Jon and Kate Plus 8 equaling divorce. Kate had appeared on Larry King Live in May, when everything seemed fine. She returned to the show last night to discuss her kids, the future of her show and how she feels about Jon.

Despite the divorce, Kate says the kids are doing remarkably well. ” They understand the process. They’re working through it, the same that Jon and I are,” she said. “This has opened up a lot of discussions between them and myself. A lot of questions come my way, and we’re dealing with it.”

Larry also asked Kate about Jon’s harsh words in a recent US Weekly interview: Jon had said, “I wish I had a 9 to 5 job instead of the nightmare I’m living. This is 24/7. I don’t even want to do taping the show anymore.”

Kate seemed to take the high road about Jon, giving a somewhat rehearsed-sounding answer: ”Jon’s opinions and his goals are his,” she said. ”I know that, personally, for myself and the kids, this has been a good experience.” She continued: “Everyone works. Everyone has a job. Everyone has what they’re dealing with. And, generally speaking, this is the most flexible, workable, wonderful job for myself.”

Come on, Kate. Admit that you like the fame. And that you think Jon’s a toolbag. When do we get our catty Real Housewives-esque reunion special? Maybe when the kids are angsty teenagers? One can only hope.
