I hope Anand Jon Alexander is ready for that bright orange jumpsuit. According to The Huffington Post, today the 35 year-old fashion designer will learn what his sentence will be for sexually assaulting aspiring models he lured to Los Angeles. It’s going to be a long time; prosecutors have asked that he be imprisoned for the maximum possible under the law – three terms of 53 years and six months to life.
Last November, Alexander was convicted of 14 counts, including forcible rape. His victims range in age from 14 to 21, and some of them are expected to speak at the sentencing. Prosecutors say he would meet the women online, make glamorous promises about photo shoots and modeling careers, and then rape them in his Beverly Hills apartment.
Until these crimes were revealed, Alexander was living a pretty posh lifestyle. He appeared on America’s Next Top Modeland worked with celebs like Paris Hilton and Mary J. Blige. In March 2007, one of his victims came forward and police began investigating. He is also under indictment on similar charges involving nine women in New York.
The grisly case remained in the headlines even after Alexander was pronounced guilty; the drama included allegations of juror tampering by his sister, Sanjana, juror misconduct and Alexander’s decision to represent himself.
