Come September 29th, both The Hills and The City will be back in full force…one right after the other every Monday night. Despite the shows being nearly identical, with the exception that they are filmed on opposite coasts, the styles of the cast members couldn’t be more different.

When calculating averages, it’s always good to throw out the highest and lowest numbers in order to get the most accurate result. In this case, I will be throwing out Heidi Montag (of The Hills) and Olivia Palermo(of The City). One is a Playboy skank and the other is an Uptown label whore. They would only throw off my calculations.

So, The Hills. These girls put the snooze in snooze fest by living in their laid-back California style every minute of every day. I swear, every time I see a picture of Lauren Conrad out-and-about she’s wearing some variation of the same outfit. Poolside she’s always in some long hippie-dippie maxi dress or a sheer cover-up and during the day she’s wearing some boring combo of jeans and t-shirt or mini skirt with a tank top. And her hair! I swear it never changes. BFF, Lo Bosworth, is basically an LC clone. Audrina Patridge’s rocker-style is at least distinct, although not really clever.
The City girls are much more individual in their styles. I love that Whitney Port is this very bohemian free-spirit working in high-fashion. Her style is more a reflection of her personality than a reflection of the current trends. Downtown It-girl Erin Lucas has a hip and colorful party-girl style. I think girls on The City make more fashion mistakes, but that means they’re taking more fashion risks.
And for that, they win the face-off.
