The woman who told us that “I Will Always Love You,” “I’m Every Woman,” and “Your Love is My Love,” is back. Yes, famed vocalist Whitney Houston has been through a very rough period of personal tragedies several years ago when she was best known for drug use, marital problems and erratic behavior. And of course, the tabloid press had a field day.
It seemed as though the woman with the voice that could leave you breathless with her ability to move up and down octaves in a way that leaves current songstresses in the dust, was no longer in existence. Well, thankfully, that is not the case. Her comeback album, “I Look To You,” is full of the songs that made her a trademark in the music industry including Alicia Keys produced “Million Dollar Bill,” and sweeping ballads including “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,” and of course, the title track, “I Look to You.” From the sounds of this song, it seems as though Whitney’s back. Hopefully, for good.
