Have you seen the movie poster for Sandra Bullock’s newest movie (opened this past Friday), “All About Steve?” It was baffling enough to make the rounds on the pop culture blogs and I myself immediately Twittered it to my friends. Some responses:
They are looking at Sandra Bullock like she’s a special needs lady!
That looks Photoshopped to hell but the Crazy in S-Bull’s eyes & the dude from Wings are telling me this is going to happen

I glanced at it too quickly and thought her umbrella was a rapier dripping blood!
I don’t know who came up with this idea to have 3 men looking strangely at Sandra Bullock so I watched the trailer below. Clearly Bullock’s character is supposed to be an “eccentric” whose “madcap ways” help the other characters learn more about themselves. Alright. That explains the bad costume and silly expressions, but I’m still puzzled.

Sandra Bullock is one of Hollywood’s most successful actresses. The Proposal was an easy number one at the box office its opening weekend, making nearly 34 million buckaroos. Bullock owns her own production company, and did you know she co-executive produced the George Lopez Show, which got her in the neighborhood of $10 million in a syndication deal? AND it is this very same production company that made All About Steve! So what gives with the goofy bad advertising? Movie posters are generally modeled on each other to mimic the success of the previous films but it feels like this poster underserves the movie – and the smart woman who made it happen.
So what do you think?
When you see posters for movies like this – rom coms clearly marketed towards women – do you feel like the “dumb” advertising is also saying something about YOU as well?
We’d love to hear from you! Oh, and here’s the trailer below:

I thought it was common knowledge that women were crazy and obsessively needy? This movie and movie poster only makes that fact clearer to me.
