If you’re a fan of classic movie musicals, you will probably remember that despite Julie Andrews’ stellar Tony-winning performance on Broadway in “My Fair Lady,” the film part eventually went to Audrey Hepburn, who had to have her singing parts dubbed by another woman (Marni Nixon). This footnote usually colors most folks’ perception of this classic musical on film. Why didn’t they just pick the most qualified singer/actress for the movie especially when one woman had played the role so successfully?
And, behold! History comes full circle, for Sir Cameron McIntosh, who has produced more than one stage version of “My Fair Lady,” is casting Eliza Doolittle for another film adaptation of the musical. And two completely different kinds of girls are up for the part again!

One one side, we have Kiera Knightley, conqueror of Pirate hearts, who blew men away in “Domino,” and whose extremely beanpole figure has been the source of much tabloid fodder. And on the other side, we have the buxom Scarlett Johansson, unlikely muse to Woody Allen, “Iron Man 2″‘s Black Widow, and “The Girl with the Pearl Earring.”
Knightley is reportedly taking singing lessons, Johansson reportedly badly wants the part, and allegedly Daniel Craig will play Professor Higgins. OH SO THAT’S WHY YOU GUYS ARE FIGHTING.
Come on ladies, cast the movie! Who should play the part of the guttersnipe turned sophisticate? Or throw us for a loop, who else would be a good Cockney flower girl?
Don’t say Sienna Miller.
(Also is it wrong to call this the A Cup VS D Cup Battle Royale?)

I’m voting for the D-Cup, easy.
