Spoiler alert!  It’s always the champions of “family values” that do the least family-oriented things…ever!

Today Orange County Assemblyman Michael Duvall resigned from his position, not because he had an affair, but only because of his “inappropriate storytelling”  and “choice of words”.  In July during a pause in a Sacramento hearing, Duvall was caught on videotape proudly discussing two sexual conquests in great detail, neither of whom was his wife.

Things discussed?: saucy underpants, vigourous spankings, the large age gap between himself and one of the women, and how one of the women, at age 36, was getting a little too old for him.

Duvall’s “inappropriate storytelling” becomes even more inappropriate when you find out that Duvall was getting 100% marks on his voting record from the Capitol Resource Institute, a “pro-family” conservative watchdog group.  But the extra frosting on this sexual cupcake is that one of the women has been identified as a lobbyist for San Diego-based energy firm Sempra. Mixing business with pleasure in politics? Heavens no!  Who has ever heard of such a thing?

Honestly though, the idea of politicians having extra-marital affairs isn’t the problem here.  Go ahead and do that!  We have the freedom to choose to a huge douche to significant others (what a douche!). But when your sexual relationship is directly tied into voting and legislation and policy-making you officially become a douche to thousands upon thousands of your consituents, that don’t know that what they pay in regards to their energy bill could be related to how often and how thoroughly a lobbyist trollope gets spanked.

But come on. Duvall’s downfall?  Being a dumbass!  It’s not just that he got caught, ON VIDEOTAPE. It was that he was doing his inappropriate storytelling AT WORK!  What kind of person thinks the Assembly Appropriations Committee is a great place to brag to your buddies about your girlfriends?! PEOPLE, tell your hooking-up-at-the-club stories at the bar, far away from work.  You contribute to gossip you can’t truly control by discussing your conquests at work… and the next thing you know, the special election to fill your seat will cost Orange County taxpayers between $330,000 and $440,000.   Family values fail.

“Family Values” California state assemblyman representing Orange County, Republican Michael D. Duvall, resigns for apparently not cheating on his wife. Well you have to take his word for it, or maybe believe that hypocrisy has been bred in. In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if you real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”.

But let’s get back to the real problem of political corruption, does anyone think this will get investigated and that things he voted on will need to be affirmed by the remaining members or will nothing happen? Do I hear Tammy Wynette, “Stand By Your Man” playing in the background? I remember not so long ago that other Orange County song favorite, “Stand By Your Tan” (for Tan Nguyen). But that’s another Orange County fool.
