When people think raw food bars, they usually think Larabar, arguably the most mainstream and well known raw food bar on the market- which I think is a shame, since every Larabar tastes the same. Sorry, but it’s true.  Combine that with the fact many people feel they sold out to General Mills, and you can be hard up to find a raw food bar everyone can get behind, until now.

This brings us to Pure Bar, purely raw little bars that pack a huge taste and nutritional punch.  Pure Bars are certified organic, vegan and offer a wider variety of ingredients, instead of the seemingly 99% date base found in every other raw bar, which lends to their delicious and varied flavors.

The texture of these little guys is soft and chewy, almost like a baked good as opposed to a bar, with chunks of real fruit and nuts.

They come in a variety of awesome flavors, some of which I have never seen in raw food bars before.  The Apple Cinnamon and Wild Blueberry flavors provide real pieces of fruit, chewy and fresh tasting, not the artificial fruit flavor you usually get.

Choco-Chip Trail Mix is perfect for a light chocolate craving, and for the real deal, dig into the Chocolate Brownie.  It actually tastes like, and has the consistency of, a real brownie, no joke.  If you are a bar addict, you know how rare that is, especially in a raw food bar.

The Cherry Cashew and Cranberry-Orange flavors were a pleasant surprise. I took the first bites warily, expecting the sour punch in the back of my cheeks I usually receive from cherry and orange flavored bars, but not that day (yeah, I tried them all in the same day- I hadn’t been to the grocery store in a while.)  The flavors were rich and sweet, and totally delicious.

Pure Bar also has a great blog on their site, Veronica’s Blog, which offers tons of great information about the organic and raw community, and tips for living a healthy lifestyle.  Pure Bars are available at Trader Joe’s everywhere or you can order them straight from the Pure Bar site.

I've never tried a Pure Bar, but I'm really intrigued by them. I've had Larabars before but I'm not a huge fan of them. They're a little too sweet for my liking. Thanks for the review!
