Will Pregnant Jourdan Dunn Walk in Fashion Week?

Move over, Gisele, there’s another pregnant model stomping the runways. Now, 19-year-old Jourdan Dunn, will walk the Spring 2010 runway shows in New York while being 5 months pregnant. Or, will she?

There was speculation back and forth after her comp card was included in her modeling agency’s book for the Spring 2010 shows which begin on September 11th. But, the Internet is now abuzz with news to the contrary. Turns out a representative from the agency has confirmed that she will NOT be walking in the shows in New York.

I’ve got to say, I’m relieved. The excitement and frenzy of Fashion Week doesn’t seem like the best thing for a pregnant teen to endure. Not to mention the sky-high heels designers would have likely put her in. Besides that, and I cringe a little when I say this, but there is something really unnatural about pregnant models. They are just so thin and I worry about how their tiny little bodies will handle a pregnancy. Hello! Isn’t it puzzling that a 5-month pregnant woman would even be considered to walk in runway shows? No one who is that far along should be able to fit in designer’s sample sizes. Whenever I see pictures of Gisele Bundchen and her itty-bitty-baby-belly I find it a little disturbing….seeing her stick thin legs and arms attached to a tiny bump.

I hope Jourdan spends fashion week eating lot’s of yummy foods, doing yoga and sleeping in. No doubt, she will be back on the runway for the Fall 2010 shows…models certainly do rebound from pregnancy fast (hello! Heidi Klum). Since Gisele and Jourdan are both reportedly due in December, it will be interesting to see who hits the runway first and whose baby is the cutest. It’s all about competition, right?
