I have to agree with the others who think that this is condescending to men. I know Helen Gurley Brown is thought of as a feminist, but I don't think it does anything to advance equality to tear down the opposite sex. Can you imagine how women would react if a single man wrote a book categorizing us as Nice Girls, Whores, Bitches, Career Women, Married Women, Single Moms, and Cougars?

There are only four types of single women:
The unemployed.
The "I am wider than I am tall".
The chain smoker.
and the "I have three children from four different men"
and usually have more than one trait above.

“Never kid yourself that the man who doesn’t kiss you goodnight is restraining himself out of respect… Or if you date an enthusiastic kisser who never even tries to proceed sex of the border, look to his maleness.”

I think this is actually very offensive to men, both straight and gay. Low sex drives do not imply that a man is gay, and being gay does not imply a lack of "maleness". The rest of your article is clever enough, but I find these specific stereotypes of men to be really unfortunate.

Errrt (sound of brakes). I am SO going to have to do a follow up to this about the 7 types of women that men come across. The post is hilarious, but we're not so cut and dry. Matter of fact, I'm going to actually tell you what kind of guys we actually are in a post. Why we come across as you're seeing in this lineup. Stay tuned to http://weddingpros.wordpress.com.

Great article! By sheer coincidence, I am also reading a Helen Gurley Brown book: Sex and the Office. It is truly hilarious, but also provides a missing category: The Boss! She suggests that you can date your boss, though you may not want to miss out on the fun of dating all the OTHER bosses around the various offices. And she also says that if a boss is hampering your fun career, you ought to fire him. Words to live by!
