Prince Harry Turns 25 – And Becomes Mega Rich

Exciting news, ladies. So maybe things didn’t work out for you and Prince William. Don’t worry – everyone’s favorite redheaded royal Prince Harry turns 25 today, which means that he is now entitled to the multi-million dollar inheritance left to him by his mother, the late Princess Diana.
CNN reports that Princess Diana left behind an estate worth £21 million ($35 million), but more than £8 million ($13.31 million) was paid in inheritance tax, leaving around £13 million ($21.6 million) to be shared between Harry and William, who is second in line to the throne. Much of that money is thought to be tied up in investments, but it is unclear whether the economic recession has affected the amount.
Sadly, the real day of celebration for Harry may be five years off; both princes are prevented from spending the lump sum of their inheritance until they turn 30. Still, Harry will pocket all income generated by his portion of the estate — around £300,000 ($500,000) a year. Not too shabby an income for basically just existing.
Despite his bad-boy reputation, Harry has continued his work in the military. He joined the British Army in 2006 and served in Afghanistan for more than two months before being withdrawn after news of his secret deployment leaked out to the media. (There was fear that he might become a target for the Taliban.) Harry was promoted to lieutenant last April and is currently training to become a helicopter pilot with the British Army’s Air Corps. I’d take a ride with him…
